Coli is full of casuals. Melo was never him, never even deserved to make a all star game imo

There was no melo legacy. Jeremy Lin had a more memorable career as a Knick than fat melo hamthony

So Cal
That team had 54 wins. And prime Melo who could get his shot at will. I still think that team was more likely to win a chip than this team. They had more individual shot creators.
Jr Smith got himself suspended in the first round and came back a bum. That was it for them.

Sometimes we become enamored with the idea of a player and kinda turn a blind eye to the reality. Especially if he was super popular or someone we watched during our young/formative years..

In Melo's case, we get the superlatives about how great of a scorer he was (heightened by his Olympic play) but in his prime career (8-years in DEN, 7-years NYK) he was a 25, 6, 5, on 44, 35, 83 player. In the playoffs, those shooting splits plummeted to 41, 32, 82... resulting in 1 conference finals run, maybe 2 semi finals runs, and the rest were 1st round exits.

That's not a bad player nor a bad career but neither is it some high bar for a Jokic or Brunson... or any current 1st or 2nd team All-NBA player to surpass.

And by about next playoff season, Ant will have more than KG, so Ant is the Greatest TWolf ever.

KG wasn't a score first player though. He was as versatile as any superstar. Defense, reboundin, passin.... Melo a pure scorer he never really impacted the game in any other way so Brunson havin more playoff points means way more in a legacy convo compared to Ant and KG. KG never had these deep, talented rosters in Minny that Ant has had for years now either. He arguably had the worst team situation of any superstar ever for most his Wolves run. Ain't had someone like Connelly upstairs or a coach like Finch even rosters aside.
