This is a
"You better make sure you give the white man their credit "
Thread.
Lol naw, this is a let's be realistic about what was going on when it did. Hendrix played with white people. He covered their music, he wasn't a playing alone on stage.

His band was legendary. It wasn't just him. You can't remove white people from Jimi Hendrix's story to make it fit your needs. That's ridiculous and a lie. And it discredits what Hendrix represented as a man, which wasn't divisive bullshyt.

How can you claim to support his art but not support his message? Unity, love, peace, exploration. Ya'll sound like militants not students of music.

Coli craziness. Art isn't for the weak. It isn't for people who can't challenge themselves to be better people. All the divisive fukk shyt is unproductive negativity.

It's disgusting to watch the ignorant slander dead men who changed the world with music and their ideas. These men saw everyone and wanted to help everyone. If you missed that message in their music you weren't listening.

I feel bad for anyone who missed that.

Actually, he did have a black band. Look up the band of gypsies, and its arguable but id say that voodoo child and purple haze are more popular than all along the watchtower

never seen anyone try to paint him as a solo artist either, his guitar playing/songwriting/character just stood out to the point where his bandmates recieved little to no recognition compared :yeshrug:

Naw. It's Christmas, and I'm retiring. I've got to crease my pants. I've got multiple dinners to finish cooking. I've got a great girl and her family making me dinner. My mom loves me. I learned a new trick on my bike yesterday, my bosses have tapped me for a promotion.

My photography is kind of taking off. I think I'm going to go practice doing manuals on my bike or try to figure out how to bunny hop hella high. I might go take some pictures of my favorite urban campers. Their stories are fascinating.

A productive discussion is something I'm always down for. But I don't want to exchange insults with other black folks for daps and the prying eyes of white people. It's embarrassing to the race.

Deny Deny Deny, That's fine. Let's pretend the three albums he made with his white band weren't three of the best albums ever made period. And all three of them were three of the best musicians of their era and possibly of all time.

But hey what do I know? The least obviously, because an ignorant man could raise these points and would know these things.

He was also taught how to play by Ernie Isley. The Isleys had a ton of their songs jacked including Twist and Shout by the Beatles. Isleys just might be the most underrated group of all time
Facts. The Bros IMO are highly under rated. Thing is you can't say somebody stole something to discredit their music. A lot of artists cover one another's work.

My point is and will remain Jimi Hendrix made history with an all white band. And he was a hippie who made his name in England. Using him to discredit white musicians is a weak argument because Hendrix heavily fukked with white people.

There's nothing wrong with that either. Art is not politics. It's not black and white. There's a wonderful grey area. This isn't a black vs white thread. It's a black and white thread.

He played with a bunch of funky ass white dudes. The best musician in his band was the drummer. Jimi Hendrix was in a band called The Jimi Hendrix Experience, yes the band was centered around him, but he wasn't a stand alone artist as people try to paint him.

I doubt most people who paint him as a solo artist could tell me which guitar is his simply by listening to JHE songs. What made Hendrix special was the whole package. His voice, his lyrics, and his whole band was fukking tight.

His most popular song according to Google is a Bob Dylan cover. It's time to grow up and face reality. England accepted Hendrix before America. He played with some English cats. He loved white people, played with white people, and covered their music.

One could ask why he didn't have a black band. But they won't. I love art in general and to appreciate it one needs to understand the time it was released in.

Bang!

I love how people forget TOP. One of the GOAT bands ever. That's not up for debate either. Had a line up that represented a variety of ethnic groups.

Funk and punk are genres I'm drawn to because they're for everyone. It's beautiful to go to a show and see everyone together. I love that shyt. We hate the same shyt. Hahahaha, it's cool man.
