Listen to Eric Clapton talk about when Jimmi first played for him. Jimmi was THAT DUDE, and history will always remember that dude. No one remembers who came second when Carl Lewis won all the LA olympics golds. The drummer wasn't lighting the kit on fire and playing with his to teeth either was he?

Jimmi did a lot of covers, but that was common practice back then, and he wrote a lot of stuff on EL album.

speak for yourself, I have all of Jimi Hendrix cds and I also have his autobiography. As far as who's better, It's a matter of opinion. We can play the cart and horse and egg and chicken game all day, We can also list a dozen other black guitarist of that time. Lets keep it about Jimmy like OP wanted.

Sly was the BIGGEST house nikka c00n I've ever seen, so he's immediately out. He's painful, and it's a pity coz his music was hugely influential . Not saying jimi was X or anything , he only fukked white chicks

i never ever heard jimi hendrix music anywhere, not even flicks, his biggest song is that 'voodoo child' hulk hogan shyt, im not a fan of his and cant even name anyone i know who bumps him just like another poster child 'david bowie' those two artist are all show no substance.

Jimi more God status from ability of playing not songs written, he's no James brown in that regard. He revolutionised a way of playing that's it, so you won't hear it everywhere.

i feel you, but robert johnson was the master of the guitar ask kieth richards and all the elite guitarists, chuck berry was opening ways that are i used today, and many would place ike in front of him also.

anyway pardon me your talking about guitar skills, and i am talking about his god status because with all the rifts he creates still never made a great song. same folks who tell you eminem is their god like hopsin,tyle,etc . you think politcaly correct answers escapes other genres, nope no one really messes with jimi. his more for the show, as was david bowie, but i give props where props is due. he stood for black excellence and was a humbled dude.

Mitch Mitchell is definitely one of the greatest drummers of all time. Hendrix melodies combined with his drumming is what made axis bold as love my favorite experience album.
