Its called popular music for a reason. I can guarantee in all those cities mentioned its Drake, Future, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Jay-Z, Beyonce etc. Thats because those artists are popular. Only areas where these artist are played over and over its maybe college radio or satellite radio. There is a format that most major cities play.
hence the term "pop" radio.. :beli:

im starting to realize either you dont know the difference, or dont know what you're talking about.. possibly, a terrible combination of both..

The issue with Ebro's argument and this is ultimately what Buck is getting at, is that not everyone should have to play the same lane in order to get radio play and that's not cool. Bottom line, Buck shouldn't have to be Drake or Kanye or Jay to get some spins..And as someone who worked in radio for a while, not all stations have the same playlist. Our PD created the playlist for our station, I used to help him during the process and it was different from what hot 97 played at the time

The best way to fix this radio problem is to ignore them. They'll either change it up or crumble. Fukk the radio honestly.
This. I havent listend to the radio in years, i got 60000u plus songs between two ipods. Buck should keep doing what hes doing because Duck Down is always dropping quality albums after all these years.

Exactly. When are they gonna learn? The radio only caters to "hot at the moment artists" springled in with just plain simplistic rhyming and ignorance. They dont give a fukk about ur bars, confidence, or ur creative intelligence. So fukk em. They dont dictate whats hot anymore. I too have over 10,000 songs on my iPod. With all types of genre's mixed in. We really need to stop lookin for radio, mtv/bet, and award shows to valitate our culture. They never gave a fukk about us and probably never will.

Nobody really listened to Ebro when he tried to explain to these bums. The radio isn't around to blow up bum street rappers. It's there to sell product to people when they tune into the radio and keep them interested in listening. He was explaining how data shows people's listening habits and they mold the playlist around those listening patterns, if you're song isn't getting played there is like a 90 percent chance the song is just terrible and your average citizen will not enjoy it, and the other 10 percent is most likely there is just simply not enough room for it in rotation.

He talks about making good music and songs, meaning music with melodies, music that means something, basically how he put it was music for people with jobs and things to do with their life. Majority of people listening to radio are listening in their car on their way to work, or travelling to some other destination. Nobody wants to hear people talk about beating dudes up, how much drugs you sell when you are a rapper, what you have seen etc. regular normal people don't want to just hear negative shyt like that in music because they use music to relax when they are done with their daily employment and other shyt they do.

These dudes are in a fantasy world where they think that if their music was just getting played the same as other music it would be flying off the shelves and people would be requesting it everywhere, that isn't the case. They simply are just not the top level artists and don't make music that connects with that majority of people's tastes.

i completely disagree with this shyt

Is Hip Hop POPULAR music? Fans and rappers cant have it both ways. You cant sell a million plus and expect for the artform to remain pure. Because when those amount of records and units is being sold it crosses over which is not a problem because then more opportunities presents itself. The issue is the lack of balance but make no mistake hip hop is very popular and has been for quite some time now.

hip-hop doesnt even control a majority of popular music.. theres only a handful of rappers selling millions of units..

have you looked at the charts..? :dahell:

have you ever listened to a pop station..? :dahell:

back to your original statement.. aside from pop stations- radio stations across the country, play different stuff.. you think SF, Dallas and Philly have the same stuff playing on the radio..? :snoop:

That has nothing to do with anything breh. Ebro tried to play them out by saying girls ain't trying to hear their music. He called them out by name, obviously Buckshot is going to respond.

Buckshot basically said....ok and? Why are you in charge of music if your whole mind state is "I only need to cater to women"? It's a valid question.

Fred.

That mindset is mental indoctrination and cancerous to quality music as a whole.

If it involves culture and has a semblance of class it's reserved space for white artists now.

Unless you a straight dumbass, junglebunny without class or sense you ain't getting pushed to the black community as an artist or as Ebro says "good music". It helps if your sexuality is blurred as well. The more effeminate the better.

Pretty much r&b divas run the game and if you don't fit that then you ain't getting play.

More and more 1/2 hit wonders

No simpler way to put it than that.

:snoop: @ radio being reduced to a woman's play thing.

But you still didn't answer the question is hip hop and popular genre?:usure: Sales have been on the decline in this digital age but artist still moving units, ringtones, and itunes. I know the major stations in those cities you listed plays popular artists such as the ones I listed on the hip hop stations.
