I'm slowly getting equipment for a home gym. I have never done true weightlifting. I have a power cage that I have to put together and a weight bench. Now it's time to get plates and also bar bells. I see bumper plates are cheaper than cast iron plates. I've read cast iron is better for strength building, which is what I need.

Which should I get?

Good shyt, depends on your setup. My basement isn't finished so I used rubber plates so I don't destroy my shyt. I'd say if you can get horse stable mats or thick mats you can lay down on the floor, steel plates may be the way to go.
