the night of July 22nd, an eighteen-year-old black woman named Nia Wilson and her older sister Lahtifa were exiting a bart station in Oakland, California, when a man suddenly approached and stabbed both sisters in the neck with a knife. The women were on their way back to Oakland after attending a party at their aunt’s house, in nearby Concord. Nia bled to death on the platform as Lahtifa, who suffered less grave injuries, attempted to soothe her: “We’re gonna get through this. I got you, you’re my baby sister.” Witnesses have said that Nia’s torso rapidly became soaked in her own blood. With a gauze bandage on her neck, Lahtifa told ABC News the next day that she had glimpsed the assailant wiping down his weapon before he dashed out of the station. Less than twenty-four hours later, a manhunt by the bart police ended when officers acted on a tip and apprehended John Lee Cowell, a twenty-seven-year-old white parolee. Camera footage showed that he had been riding the bart system back and forth in the intervening time.
There’s been more than that thread. And multiple topics of white man abuse and violence substantially worse than what’s in the OP. You may have missed it but it’s also a case of seeing what you want to see, to fit your perception, Because from what I reading and seeing, It just seems wild sketch that y’all pop into these threads with the black man hate brigade right off top but are noticeably absent on threads when white men are actually committing the offenses. Those threads never gain this type of traction. You can’t expect people to take us seriously if we don’t have the same level of attention and animosity. There is literally a thread, the same time frame as this about a black woman being stabbed at a subway station. It’s like a reverse of what you accused them of doing - came in this thread speculating ready to pop off but when real incidents take place - it’s dumb quiet. As a Black woman, if I’m seeing it and I’m confused as to how y’all aren’t going as hard - it’s a problem. It’s embarrassing - like a watching a fail experiment to the point where I can predict what certain posters will say or react with. There’s a reason how I know what threads are not being acknowledged, I’m not just saying this to be mean - it’s my perspective.
They should not be punished. That's disproportionate. The only person who should be hit with sexual assault charges is the dude who slapped her ass.
