DO. NOT. THROW. OR. SELL. THEM.

I did the same thing when I was younger and I regret it to this day. I collect vinyl now but just to have those CD’s would have meant alot. They’re a time capsule and whilst CD’s for a time lost their worth, a quick check online will show you they’ve appreciated in value. Hold on if you can.

I'm tryna convince myself I did the right thing with my last post and here come this nikka

Been trying to make the full transition to streaming only over the last few months and it’s been frustrating. Up until then I still regularly played CDs mostly burned at this point outside of my regular classics I kept. It’s been tough for me cause I cycle through a huge variety of artists and genres while driving. A month or so ago Spotify randomly started doing weird stuff and locking up. Tried switching to Apple Music and hated the layout for on the go playing. Dunno if it’s just me but it’s so counter intuitive. Spotify seems back to regular but now I’m having Bluetooth connection issues. Plenty of days I’m ready to just go back to CDs. Going to work on making more mood and artist based playlists that kinda mimic how I used CDs in the latter years. I’m too washed for this.

On a side note, I’m in a transition of moving states but once I get settled I think I’m going to begin repurchasing vinyl. Had a huge collection that was lost in a flood and it hurt my soul. When I look at the cost of acquiring some of this stuff now I’m like damn. For that reason I say keep the CDs cause if they come back we will be taxed like they do for vinyl now.

I’m moving, getting rid of junk. Got two binders of CD’s and know I haven’t played any of them in 7-8 years. I don’t even own a CD/DVD player and won’t have a car - so no CD player there. I’m stream life, or if it’s not there, I’ll find it elsewhere. My CD collection used to be a point of pride, it was stolen in 08, I replaced some of it and of course bought new releases (that what comprises these two binders). But between downloading and buying on iTunes from about 09-14 and being a full streaming convert since 13/14, I listen to digital files. I’m somewhat of a minimalist, I throw out shyt if I don’t use it, I’m not one to hang onto things for sentimental reasons. It’s time to let this shyt go :to:

I can’t bring myself to trash them, but
I might throw them in my old bedroom at my parent’s house where I have other junk stored. Crazy that a decade ago, leaving them in a closet wouldn’t ever be a thought.

THIS :whoa: don't throw it away

I understand the sentiment...I just threw out about 100 cassette tapes...some I bought...others were “mixtapes” I made sitting by the radio and recording songs...some of these tapes date back to the late 80s/early 90s when hip hop radio shows came on once a week so some of those tapes had rare songs from local artists and shyt

my way to justify throwing them out was I had AMPLE time and the equipment/know-how to convert the music into MP3s but felt the process would be too long/tedious...I probably haven’t listened to any of those tapes since the late 90s...I low key regret throwing them out but if I kept them they would’ve just still been sitting there collecting dust/taking up space

I have over 2000 cds and vinyls. I also have a lot of hip hop magazines stored in toy chest for preservation. I aint giving shyt away. I got too much hip hop almanac history in my possession that can scare a revisionist

This.

I bought them and I may not use them daily but I love that I have them still and I remember buying almost all my CD's and reading the notes etc.

My Son and Daughter may look through it one day and appreciate it.

BIG MISTAKE

He right and wrong. Steaming yes kills the audio quality due to compression. But emailing digital audio to someone does not degrade the audio unless that person that send it decides to compress the audio even more. Best way to transfer wav audio is through google drive, drop box etc

I sadly have all my old CD books. LIke you I just need to go ahead and convert them to digital. For me it's not even just all the CDs I had bought but more the ones I burned. Especially mixtapes I created (especially this fire ass R&B mix I had that women loved) or even when I'd burn CDs I always wanted to get as close to 72 or 80 minutes as possible so I'd throw on random tracks that I'd usually end up listening to more than the music. I may make that a weekend project.

Plus all the random ass unreleased joints I got on some of those CDs I'm afraid to get rid of. At one point I had them all backed up to a hard drive that died on me.
