Most of the new laptops don't even have a CD-rom drive
:mjcry:
Exactly. I’m like where am I even gonna play a CD at this point? I ain’t buying a CD player for this shyt.

I don’t know, if this were my OG collections I had built from the mid 90’s, I’d feel different, but most of this shyt I copped in large batches on eBay after my original collection got stolen, but then two years later Spotify dropped and I had no desire to keep rebuilding. I know good and well I ain’t cracking these open in 20 years.

They are heavy and dead weight/clutter for some shyt you don’t use. Sure, I can slide them under the bed and they’re outta sight, but what is the point of hanging onto something you don’t use? Just because? On the hope that you’ll change your behavior 20 years from now and all of a suddenly want to use cd’s again? Like I said, I don’t even have a DVD player, let alone CD player, what am I supposed to even pretend I’ll play these on?

I don’t have those problems :yeshrug:. My CD’s are my physical backups. Along with my digital backups.

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
I’m moving, getting rid of junk. Got two binders of CD’s and know I haven’t played any of them in 7-8 years. I don’t even own a CD/DVD player and won’t have a car - so no CD player there. I’m stream life, or if it’s not there, I’ll find it elsewhere. My CD collection used to be a point of pride, it was stolen in 08, I replaced some of it and of course bought new releases (that what comprises these two binders). But between downloading and buying on iTunes from about 09-14 and being a full streaming convert since 13/14, I listen to digital files. I’m somewhat of a minimalist, I throw out shyt if I don’t use it, I’m not one to hang onto things for sentimental reasons. It’s time to let this shyt go :to:

I can’t bring myself to trash them, but I might throw them in my old bedroom at my parent’s house where I have other junk stored. Crazy that a decade ago, leaving them in a closet wouldn’t ever be a thought.

Sad to hear.

Mail them to me..I'll take it

You keep the CDs for the album covers at least!
i made two collages with album covers from my fave albums, one r&b and the other hip hop. otherwise, again, pointless. i'm not going to sit down and flip through cd covers. would be one thing if this was a vinyl collection, but a 4x4 inch album cover is pointless

He right and wrong. Steaming yes kills the audio quality due to compression. But emailing digital audio to someone does not degrade the audio unless that person that send it decides to compress the audio even more. Best way to transfer wav audio is through google drive, drop box etc

THE EMAIL EXAMPLE WAS NOT THE BEST

BUT THE OVERALL POINT STANDS

QUALITY ON STREAMING IS AWFUL COMPARED TO CD

TAPES AND VINYL ARE EVEN BETTER
