I’m moving, getting rid of junk. Got two binders of CD’s and know I haven’t played any of them in 7-8 years. I don’t even own a CD/DVD player and won’t have a car - so no CD player there. I’m stream life, or if it’s not there, I’ll find it elsewhere. My CD collection used to be a point of pride, it was stolen in 08, I replaced some of it and of course bought new releases (that what comprises these two binders). But between downloading and buying on iTunes from about 09-14 and being a full streaming convert since 13/14, I listen to digital files. I’m somewhat of a minimalist, I throw out shyt if I don’t use it, I’m not one to hang onto things for sentimental reasons. It’s time to let this shyt go :to:

I can’t bring myself to trash them, but I might throw them in my old bedroom at my parent’s house where I have other junk stored. Crazy that a decade ago, leaving them in a closet wouldn’t ever be a thought.

send em here

You know
did that, a long time ago with the remaining mixtapes i have and random r&b albums that are hard to find like sweet sable, all in my itunes library - i just need to get my itunes library into the cloud.
Plus you say “It hurts” but it seems you convinced yourself they’re useless. So why does it “hurt”? :dahell:

because, as i said in my first post, my CD collection back in the day used to be a point of pride. i used to spend 90% of my allowance on CD's, scam BMG and Columbia House for those 12 for $0.01 deals, spend countless hours in CD stores, i was the person who had all the music, i cried as a (semi) grown ass adult when my OG CD collection got stolen - it hurts to realize that era is life is over, that i couldn't care less about owning CD's.

i don't have a use for physical media. even physical books are useless to me other than cookbooks.

Keep them cause you’ll regret it later. Plus, it ain’t like it cause much to get a certain player. Also, your originals >>>>> streaming changed versions. You’re not gonna like your Aaliyah ‘One In A Million’ sounding like it was done by Kids Bop.

I've gave up CD's in the Napster and Soulseek days. Once torrents came around I've been free of all physical media. All that stuff is gonna end up in a landfill creating more waste.

Rip the rare ones to a hard drive before tossing them at least. I tossed my books a long time ago and even if they might be available on streaming platforms, it still never crosses my mind to play them or sometimes an obscure song pops in my head and I won't remember what album to find it on.

did you mean to type hour? Day at least? Imagine going a year without listening to Mobb Deep :mjcry:
Minus well commit that :rip:

another reason to hold on to your physicals is that streaming will remove albums due to sample clearance issues or the artist will modify the songs. Ready to Die is a prime example of that.

I’m moving to DC and bushing the car... :blessed:

but aside from some mix cd’s in there, which I think I already uploaded to iTunes (some other bullshyt I need to handle, getting my digital library into the cloud) the other stuff is all on Spotify or I can buy on iTunes if I ever get that hard pressed to hear it. There’s just so much music, I don’t spend a ton of time on old stuff. I may have a day where I wanna hear a bunch of OutKast or TLC or whatever and can get that fix on Spotify, or hit YouTube for rare remixes, etc. I don’t see the need for CD’s...:rip:
