I mentioned this in that Africa Economics group

link?

Also, are there organizations that connect African corporations with college educated African Americans who may be seeking employment? Looking at that thread about college graduated Black Americans and unemployment made me wonder if this exist since many African nations and companies need skilled labor.

@Gifted one created it. I'm mobile so I can't link right mow.
as far as your second inquiry. If there is such an org, they aren't doing a great job. So that could be something dope to startup[/QUOTE

Did you know that Luanda is the most expensive city in the world? A bottle of coca cola is $5 (was $8 at one point), a block of cheese cost over $50?

This would clearly be for the new upper class (for now), I know it sounds bad, but all that oil and mineral money, I could probably charge twice as much as america.

In fact that's what we do right now. lol. (im a middle man for an export company)

Im tired of being a middle man tho. I just got into this so I can 'be around' and pick up the trade, network, see what needs what. and if an idea pops up.....roll with it.

one of my boys, he's african but went to school in ATL, he started off selling toilet paper which he shipped from china, he was charging like $5 or $3 dollars a roll, but was buying it for 5 cents. then, he got enough to buy the machine to make his own roll, and had a firm make the wrappers, lets just say he made his first million in a year. now he has 4 other competitors who have taken/stolen his idea, but he was the first one so his product has clout.

The mobile theater idea is pretty good. but I think the upper class want to have that 'western' feel. you know?

Your boy needs to buy up 3 of his competitors and take over 4th........or license his brand to them

I'm not down with this AMC idea .....I like the concept of offering under served markets though

A million off toilet paper :mjcry:

Do they have kleenex over there with aloe Vera? :lupe:

But I know a lady that did the exact same thing your boy did with floor tile. shes trying to be like lowes/walmart over there. She always fills up these containers and ships all this shyt to Senegal. The only thing I never was able to figure out why are certain products more expensive in africa than the states? Also, maybe this is just my experience but seems like Africans act super secretive /suspect when it came down to talking profit margins.

It's a cultural thing.... people get all emotional when it comes to money and their business...

Might the logistics or just another way to add margin since there might be smaller competition there

Damn if only I had 50-100k. fukk.

So I am going to kinshasa later in the year, date may possibly be moved after the holiday. Anyways, I had just got back from watching X-Men, and I started thinking about what I am going to do on my spare/down time over there, then I wondered if they had any movie theaters....I did some research, and to my surprise....they do not. :ohhh:

In fact, many african countries do not. Imagine if, you started like an AMC type franchise in west africa. you could go from a mere 100k, to half a billion in less than 10 years :gladbron:. Why hasn't anyone thought of this, why don't I have 100k. :damn:

Not a bad idea per se, actually a very good one. I remember when I was in Bangui the only movie theater was often packed because indeed middle to upper class usually travel to Europe and like the idea of a night out at the movies, so that clientele would be available. I gather that you're Congolese so you know better than me that there would be a market for that in Kinshasa.

The thing that must be taken into account is that there are often Cultural centers (I'm thinking of for example the Alliance française or maybe some embassies) who already offer movie screenings. Obviously their choice of movies is different, but people go there also to mingle, have a drink, etc.

And obviously I guess that it's like in CAR where you have the bootleg ghetto cinemas :lolbron:

Maybe an idea would be to create some kind of venue where people can put together going out for a drink/food and then move on to the movie. I think middle/upper class would be down for that.
