Damn if only I had 50-100k. fukk.

So I am going to kinshasa later in the year, date may possibly be moved after the holiday. Anyways, I had just got back from watching X-Men, and I started thinking about what I am going to do on my spare/down time over there, then I wondered if they had any movie theaters....I did some research, and to my surprise....they do not. :ohhh:

In fact, many african countries do not. Imagine if, you started like an AMC type franchise in west africa. you could go from a mere 100k, to half a billion in less than 10 years :gladbron:. Why hasn't anyone thought of this, why don't I have 100k. :damn:

Interesting idea.
However, I think movie theaters make their profits from concession stand sales. Most poor people are not going to shell out $10 USD for a small soda and a bag of popcorn.

you have to keep in mind charging them 20 dollars is like 50 cents American. would be decades to make the money back plus most people are not balling like that
Did you know that Luanda is the most expensive city in the world? A bottle of coca cola is $5 (was $8 at one point), a block of cheese cost over $50?

This would clearly be for the new upper class (for now), I know it sounds bad, but all that oil and mineral money, I could probably charge twice as much as america.

In fact that's what we do right now. lol. (im a middle man for an export company)

Im tired of being a middle man tho. I just got into this so I can 'be around' and pick up the trade, network, see what needs what. and if an idea pops up.....roll with it.

one of my boys, he's african but went to school in ATL, he started off selling toilet paper which he shipped from china, he was charging like $5 or $3 dollars a roll, but was buying it for 5 cents. then, he got enough to buy the machine to make his own roll, and had a firm make the wrappers, lets just say he made his first million in a year. now he has 4 other competitors who have taken/stolen his idea, but he was the first one so his product has clout.

The mobile theater idea is pretty good. but I think the upper class want to have that 'western' feel. you know?

my problem is my ideas are always too massive. For example, I had an idea to import garbage trucks. start a garbage truck service, first start off private, then have the govt buy me out. (I got this idea from a nigerian, but he was going straight public since his dad is a senator), there is so much trash around in the city, piles of it, they just need the service. Amazing idea, but garbage trucks cost a GRIP.

Then I had an idea with importing solar panels, they use loud shytty 60s generators, home solar panels from china have gotten considerably cheaper since china has vowed to go solar. in fact now, even the rural areas are getting them, the thing is, its a communist country so the govt is the one installing them. Its not private, they have the money. All those companies get subsidy from the govt. Africa is more of a private sector, so I'd have to do it on my own, get investors, or a huge load, which will be very difficult as a foreigners, I would also have to send 3 africans to china for training, or ship 2 chinese to africa to teach. plus their food, stay etc on top of pay. :sigh:

Why can't I think of smaller idea, god. So many people making money, but those idea have been taken.

:wtf: Like you said your problem is you're thinking too big. There are many more small consumer products that you could sell there and make just as much money, if not more, than selling garbage trucks and solar panels. Those take a massive infrastructure. Where do you plan on storing these items?

I wrote about an idea in that Africa group. I know bunch of manufacturers in china. Im trying to sell mini portable speakers and shyt over there. How'd your homie get started with toilet paper?

but that's the thing, they are much needed things that would be HUGELY successful if I had the capital. Trash is a massive problem, blackouts, also massive problem. These are issues that the upperclass, if given an option, would eat up like no other, it would be almost revolutionary, I know that for a fact, because just looking at Nigeria, they're already on it. Solar panels are massive in china now. They are able to get power to all 1.5 billion, without building many new nuclear power plants. I mean that is huge, its so much cheaper too. Solar panels have gotten real small, like generator small, you just put the panels on your roof, the electrical system isn't that complicated anymore, but it does take a few months before the panels have enough power to be fully function on it's own, considering Congo always have black outs, it might take a year, however, it's extremely hot and always sunny since they are at the equator. So give or take 5-6 months for a small panel.

My boy just started off small. A crate of toilet paper, sold them to smaller shops, they cleared in less than a week. He then shipped a container, again, gone in a week. It just grew and grew, then he could afford the machine, and a cheap warehouse for $200 a month, and kicked out his own brand just like that. He's the 'charms' of Congo. His product is sold throughout all of congo, in every grocery store, btw, congo is the size of west europe. just so you can get an idea of his scale now. Dude is only 25. I don't even hear from him anymore....he's now 'in'.

At the level you're at this is the way to go. The trash and solar panel thing are great ideas but it takes a lot more capital and infrastructure to do, neither of which have. Your only option would be to find ppl with those tools but once they get the idea and know they can do it, then why would they need you? Your boy did it right start small and scale up. The reason the opportunity was there because all the big players don't want to do that early leg work. They'd rather let someone else do that and once it's profitable buy them out later. And there's plenty of other opportunities just like that

many countries in west africa have cinemas breh.... do proper research

You should be asking the question why arent there many cinemas?

sometimes there is a gap in the market for a reason..... and that reason is piracy, nine times out of ten you can buy a pirated DVD of a movie before its even landed in the cinemas in the states..... also with the internet age a lot of people are watching movies on the net

I did do research, and countries like both Congos, Rwanda, South Sudan, CAR, the smaller nations in between do not. Obviously Nigeria and Ghana have them, but I'm not including them.

No one uses the internet nor pirate more than americans, and people still go to movie theaters for a reason. The experience. Obviously if I did it, I would want the film to come out a cpl of weeks after release. During those times, usually the only thing on the net are cam rips, which are awful

before you spend a penny tread with caution.... some things are cultural....

Nigeria is the second highest consumer of champagne in the world After France but i doubt there are more than 100 cinemas in the country......Nigerians just dont spend their money in the cinemas when they know they can buy the same movie on the roadside for less than 50 cents.....

my company is based in Africa so i know what Im talking about, Ive seen many people get burnt even though they had good ideas because they didnt take in cultural factors...

Im not saying its not a good idea or you shouldnt do it, all Im saying is wherever you set up do some serious research
