Moving the seconds was actually the smart thing to do. Boston or not, I think if OKC stood strong they'd have taken Thybulle ahead of us, and we're insanely close to the apron if we run it back and use our MLE and BAE well that we'd only have room for 1 vet min anyway before becoming hard capped.

Elton did a good job of moving the seconds away to get future picks in their place

BTW, I watched Shayok at Virginia before he transferred. He's not an NBA player.

I will say if someone had taken Thybulle ahead of us I would've wanted Elton to trade down. No one else I would've wanted to give a guaranteed contract to, not even Nassir Little or Keldon Johnson.

I haven't watched him, what makes you say that? Removing any bias from my eyes I see a guy 6'6" with a 6'11" wingspan who as a senior shot 39%3PT on good volume and made 88%FT which is a better indicator of NBA 3PT shooting than college 3PT shooting. Some brief highlights I saw, he looked comfortable shooting on the move. That's a really nice shooting profile with the length for defense. He also shot 75% at the rim and made 57%2PT

Not quick enough to get to the rim or guard most NBA wings. He didn't pass much at all. And he'll be 25 next month. He's a decent shooter but I don't see much in his game that translates to the next level. I could be wrong.

At this point I'm willing to sign and trade Jimmy if he insists on the 5 year max. Paying Butler 40 million a year when he's 36 years old when we possibly have Simmons, Embiid, and possibly Harris on the roster would be trouble.

Annoying as I respect Jimmy and I think he'd be a great competitive influence on the others.

Also I want the man to get paid as much guaranteed money as he can because he's worked his ass off for it.

It's just not really the right thing for my team to lock him in until he's 36. Some of his game is certainly "old man game" but his athleticism is very important as well, particularly the fact that he's comparably heavy for his size... which will likely hurt his long term durability

We'd be capped out anyway since next summer Simmons gets his extension, Tobias would be on a max deal, and Embiid will get re-upped for a supermax before Jimmy's contract ends
These rumors are ridiculous and Fareal if Butler wants to go let him go.
Apparently the noise is entirely from the Houston camp, no interest has been shown from us or Jimmy

Heard that as well but still Philly fans going crazy like don’t be upset if he wants to go it’s ok. I just read as well that we not offering Tobias the Max which is good and if he sign somewhere else take that cash for Ross Dedmon Horford Scott Ennis

Nah we should try to bring back Tobias and offer him the max, it would be really silly to offer him anything less, that does absolutely nothing for you in terms of cap space. Offering him less than the max is just being cheap to save yourself from luxury tax.

If we sign him and win championship or more I’d live with it. As long as we win

If we don’t then I have an issue. I feel the same way about Bryce contract :yeshrug:

Crazy thing is they should be the favorites out the east next year even though Raptors won. Healthy Embiid and the series is over. Just get him healthy and limit his play ala Kawhi this year

We only had 12 regular season games in which all 5 of our starts played together as well. Imagine now with time for the guys to develop chemistry, learn the system, etc. and would project to come back with an improved bench too on top of the fact that Tobias, Simmons, and Embiid are guys who played in that series and have room to continue to grow and develop
