I never did anything special.

If you handsome in the face like me you can get away with $100 off the rack from Marshall's or some other BS store they sell big brands it'll just be from a past year discounted.

Don't over-think this shyt.

You don't need to spend 500, honestly. for 2-300 you can get a dope suit from places like Century 21 as long as you know your size and fit. Go for slim styles if you can pull it off. I recently copped a very nice Ben Sherman there, get compliments on it all the time.

Don't listen to dude who told you to go to menswearhouse unless you want to get ripped off. If anything let them measure you up and bounce on them.

i need to look fresh got my sisters wedding coming up, new to the whole suit game how do i go about it
where should i should buy it
how much money for a good one
should i get it customed or buy then get it tailored
i cant spend more than 500 hope fully less dont want to sound cheap though

First you should go and get fitted. Go to Macy's, get fitted by one of the associates and try on some different fits (classic fits like Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, trim fits like Kenneth Cole, Calvin Klein or Tommy Hilfiger or actual slim fits like Bar III, Alfani or Ryan Seacrest)

See what fit you're most comfortable with and make a decision. You can also rent a tux at Macy's too and you can do it for $250 or less. If you want to buy one including shirt, shoes & accessories (tie, socks, belt, cuff links, tie bar, pocket square, etc) you could get all that for under $500

Another place to rent from would be Savvi, they've got good tux rentals deals at about the same price I quoted you for Macy's tux rentals

Men's Warehouse/Jos A Bank are mediocre as fukk, I wouldn't go to either one unless you have no other choice. And since you haven't really done a suit before I wouldn't go to a place like Express or H&M either. They make trendy, but cheap suits. Get a real suit of good quality first then when you know what you want start buying trendy pieces.

Hope this helps :salute:

I love the photographer suits from express on my husband

This is his body type... Not sure of your body type but I feel like it's flattering on most men

Edit: just some info on buying suits to suit you
Men from EXPRESS

The photographers are dope but not worth their price. I cop them at the express outlet when they hit +50%off suiting. Some blazers also have exposed stitching on the lapel

@what it do , check out

Tailored, Washed and Formal Suits | Suitsupply Online Store

Def reccomend it. They have a store in Soho nyc where I cop my suits and blazers. The fits are perfect. :blessed:

Honestly you shouldn't be wearing suits or buying them if you don't know the game. It's deep. I haven't seen much good advice in this thread. I have a tailor.

Trust me when I say rent one. Doesn't matter what it looks like if it fits well. Don't wear a three piece or a bow tie. Black suit. Black neck tie. White shirt. Black belt. Black shoes. Don't wear sneakers. Animal print. Textured solids.shoes with a buckle. Or square toe shoes. Do not wear suspenders.

Get a real leather belt. Not that cheap plastic alloy shyt. Go to Ross or thrift store. They got them for cheap.

If you want to look fly get a nice watch with a real leather band. Square face. Tastefully sized. Again Ross and thrift stores got them for cheap. A second hand watch usually just needs new batteries. Get a vintage tie clip. It should look old. A good cologne will go a long way too.

Also you must wear a tie. This is a formal event. Not a high school dance. Any cheap suit will not last so they're not worth buying. They'll also need to be tailored. That's expensive and it takes hella time.

I think some of your advice, while good in general, doesn't apply for what he needs a suit for. He's just going to wedding, he's not going to fashion week or working as an executive. All he needs is a good fitting suit (wouldn't suggest a black suit like you said for this occasion though) It takes trial and error because suits fit people differently. Like the other guys said, I like the fit if Express's photagrapher, but if you want to get more use out of it than this wedding or an upscale club, you should avoid the sateen fabric and go for 100% wool. My brother on the other hand likes Banana Republic. I also found a Ralph Lauren suit on sale at Belk. He could get away with not getting it tailored with a slim fitted suit, but for the best fit, he probably should.

DO NOT GET A SUIT FROM MEN'S WEARHOUSE!

I very rarely see well fitting good quality suits there. But that's just my experience.

Go to Burlington Coat Factory, they have great designer suits, CK Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss etc.... $500 would get you a something real good. Like someone mentioned focus on the fitment.

Wait, you are a male and you are "new" to the suit gang?

What did you wear growing up to church, formal engagements, family funerals, sports banquets, going out to a nice spot with a lady on a date, and other things all through your life since you were a child until now

How is this possible? :what:

I'd disagree. Burlington Coat Factory is a discount retailer meaning they're getting older suits, they're going to be limited in the styles they can offer you & they won't have anyone to fit you. If you're gonna do an off price retailer id do Off Saks or Neiman Marcus Last Call, but I'd stay far far away from Burlington
