That depends on who you are talking about and where they are from. A lot check white just because they are not educated on how things work. Look at the video and see how they say white cause they dont know any better and we are all taught black is bad just based on the meaning of the word black itself which has nothing to do with race.

Vestige of colonization and the fact that many Latin American governments gave preference to Euro immigrants over the darker meztizo people. It just became the popular thing to do at the time. Also race in Latin America is completely different than race in the US. It is hard for the average guy to quantify what race he is, when the identify in one Nation is different in another. In South America I would be Criollo (son of euro immigrants) but in the US I put down "other".
