:wow:

So if I hop over to MX and buy this joint for like 25k and drive it back here, what’s going to happen…:patrice:
Normal mexicans do this all the time in texas or cali. All sorts of illegal ass cars like Puegeots or citroens can be seen in San Diego.

I actually looked into it a few years ago, because there was a very particular japanes car i wanted that wasnt made here. From what i recall, all you needed was the mexican equivalent of an LLC to buy and "own" the car. There is also a special "north America" branded insurance that covers you from ciudad Juarez to Toronto.

Reading more closely, it’s not only about the battery but the charging system itself. It’s like a faster “pump”.

They figured out a way to basically transfer/induce charge faster. Not sure if the tech is coupled to the new battery, it may increase the rate of charge for other current and older batteries as well. The new battery is the most optimized for it.

That’s another big benefit for EV’s, you’re not limited to fluid mechanics but rather electricity, which “flows” and transfers energy insanely fast if you have the medium. Fluid is also a medium for energy transfer when combustible, but has many current drawbacks.

People love to gas up China. China govt moves as one and have one direction. They collect taxes and do what’s best for them. Pseudo communist.

America can’t do that. Our constitution doesn’t allow it. The free market and lobbyist of the corporations dictates where investment goes. If money can’t be made, investment and innovation with not happen.

If we (America) wants what China has, we need to change our policies. We all know that won’t happen. That’s why they took solar from us. That’s why their EVs are so cheap. And guess what, we will keep them out to “protect” the American companies.

American companies cant compete because of our labor costs, production costs, and regulations. We will never be able to build a 5-7k EV. If Biden/Trump allowed Chinese EV into America, the big three would be bankrupt within a decade.

Imagine being a liberal and know that Chinese’s EVs will lower our carbon footprint (the battery pollution is another topic). But you won’t push for their vehicles because China is bad.

they didn't take anything from us.

President Reagan killed solar when he dumped subsidies in the 80s. Anyone can make money if federal policy makes you profitable. Again, someone is making the decision for we the people because they think we are too Stoopid to make the right decision.

[Quoted tweet]
Former U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm awarded $14 billion in below-market loans to Michigan energy companies before leaving office, despite an Energy Department alert about conflicts of interest. michigancapitolconfidential.…

@LM29warbird
I remember every bit of his policies. Even the solar panels on top of the White House. Also his continuous speach about turning down the heater, wearing a sweater in cold weather to doing the same behavior in warm weather. Carter's life's work was about renewable energy etc..

[Quoted tweet]
What you all witnessed in '16 was the culmination of decades of disgust. It wasn't just about HRC. It was about a timeline of disinformation, corruption and the obstructionist drumbeat of the GOP. It is mentally exhausting to see progress kneecapped at the will of billionaires.

@LM29warbird
He also had a degree on the finite oil, coal and all fossil fuels. People didn't want to hear the truth. Regan (R) dealt with Iran to not released the hostages until he gets elected, promised to give them sweetheart deals ( Iran Contra scandal). Then made a huge public denial.

@LM29warbird
Reagan also made a gigantic public show about ripping off the solar panels and giving all kinds of subsidies (paid with your tax dollars) that are still in effect today. Regan was a GOP God figure until they joined the cult of Trump!! If anyone wants to get facts, Google it.

@LM29warbird
Now we have Repulicans who are making teaching any history that white people don't like against the law. Have you been watching news about Ukraine?? Think about how the Kurdish people felt when Trump moved American troops so a Turkish dictator could slaughter them??

@LM29warbird
How many War Crimes were committed then and how much is it all about what deals Repulicans had made in secret?? Any person who is not extremely rich and votes for any Repulican needs to go read real life history and know they are being used just like Putin's uses Russians!!

@StevenBeschloss
Given the murderous leaders in Russia and Saudi Arabia, the world would be wise to reduce its reliance on oil.

@blue_yarn
We should have begun the process ca. 1973.

@eyemagistus
From 1977-82, I worked for the largest solar manufacturer in AZ. Reagan killed them all when he eliminated all the tax subsidies. Eliminate tax subsidies for fossil fuels.

Carter put solar panels on the White House. Reagan had them removed.
All Federal buildings should have solar panels.
All buildings with public subsidies should have solar.

[Quoted tweet]
If America had listened to Jimmy Carter half a century ago and started to transition to renewable energy independence in the 1970s, we wouldn't be in the situation we find ourself in today.

Instead, Republicans mocked him as a crazy person.

Also, very dope if all this battery tech has a future for air travel:

Apparently China is working on/got some tech that uses heated plasma to generate enough thrust for planes rather than releasing burned fuel.

Defensively it would be crazy if jets didn’t have to refuel in air like that and can sustain long air travel.

Incredible, but you need a 1000V charger :francis:

The smart thing they’re starting to do is future proof their cars so as charging stations are upgraded the cars will be ready to take advantage

I’m just learning how evs work. The charger is in the car. The ”charging stations” are just a power source.

And what car are they getting. 300mi range out of?
