huawei is banned in america
yes huawei was deemed a national security threat due to their close CCP ties. the U.S didn't want their 5G hardware or any new hardware inside america's telecommunication infrastructure. later that ban extended to huawei phones and U.S companies doing business with them. you can still buy a huawei phone on amazon, ebay , etc. you just won't get any security updates.
I don't see the huawei ban or a potential tik tok ban as being the same. Huawei is largely a hardware company. tik tok provides a mobile app and a service. what does a ban on tik tok entail exactly? will tik tok only be removed from app stores? will ISP's be forced to ban tik tok IP addresses disabling the ability for already in installed apps to connect to the service?
