Thank god the Lakers did this. However if they can't get any of the big name coaches on board, then they need to sign someone that has EVERYTHING to lose if they fail. They need a coach who will be willing to try and do anything it takes to get the best out of their roster, and is open minded. There's several assistant coaches in the NBA that would fit the bill.

:upsetfavre:Lakers paying 3 head coaches right now to not coach :russ:

What did Scott hold him team back by? :russ:

Who would even want the lakers job? They have nobody and nobody wants to play there

Sources told ESPN that the Lakers had a team option on Byron Scott for next season because his contract included performance incentives the last two years that he did not meet

Lakers have a young roster. Jeanie Buss needs to look into hiring someone like her fiancé was at one time. Someone who is young and successful in the minor league system. Those guys turn into good coaches.

I'd want to talk with someone like David Blatt. Messina is another guy who did well overseas but he may just take Pop's place in 3 years. Luke Walton is real young but did more than enough to make sure the Warriors didn't miss a beat. How would he do with less talent?

I'd also want to talk with a few of the hungry young'uns who have been successful in the D-League -- like Jordi Fernandez, Casey Hill, Nate Bjorkgren, or Nevada Smith.

The Lakers don't need retreads. They need a fresh face.
