Republicans know how to play the game. They will make this a semi story since an election is coming up. If the republicans win the election they will back room deal Thomas into stepping down so they can replace him. If the democrats win they will find a reason to keep Thomas there.

this is the problem with a super high level gov't job that you get to stay in for life.
EVERY politician needs term limits. why judges on the highest court in the land can stay there as long as they want, yet I have to elect judges in my local election every couple years is completely ass backwards.
