I'm not referring to commercializing, I'm talking about exploiting as in trying to turn the holiday onto themselves

Caribbeans, latins, and Africans and other "POC" have done this especially making June teeth about them

They didn't kno what Juneteenth was till they seen ados celebrate it

Now they trying to take it like they belong in it

but when something becomes acknowledge by the mainstream it ceases to be for only who started it and who it was created for

it's a product for mass consumption now...capitalism doesn't allow for anything being sacred...that's why you got Jesus for sale on products and the US flag on jeans.

you don't want Juneteenth to be celebrated by anyone other than Black Americans...should've kept it underground

For christ sakes, I'm not referring to celebrating mf

I'm talking about how people r turning juneteeth into something to include them

Like how caribbeans turn the holiday to be about "all African descent people being freed from slavery" which is not what the holiday is for

People can celebrate it without trying to twist the meaning of it.

My job has been really busy this year unexpectedly and I've been trying to keep up with emails. So I get irritated when fluff emails come through. I don't care who's birthday it is, or who won an award.

Seeing an email related to Juneteenth though, just irritated me. Like c'mon. I guess I should be positive cuz the company is trying, but to me it's just not necessary. Thank God I'm working from home.
