Cali or NY?

40 million is the whole state of Cali. 20 Million is the NYC metro. Not including the rest of the state.

NYC smokes LA individually in numbers if we want to go there too .


Edit: All in all the point is Cali has more prestigious cities and locales than NY so it makes sense for it to have a higher population.

NY state really only has NYC. While Cali has numerous hot spots for growth.

Why would you think 20 million people concentrated in one part of the state matters in a conversation about States?

This thread is comparing the states, and last I checked, New York state's population is LESS THAN 20 million. So what you doing is including Jersey and the other surrounding areas in your population. Imagine having to do that to support New York


Further, while NYC's metro is 20m, Los Angeles' is 13 million. Not bad for a city that is literally 226 years younger, and didn't become a part of the US until after the country became independent.

if I could afford to live in NYC i would choose NYC over where I live in Cali currently... I would not live anywhere in NY outside of NYC though... especially not upstate

there some spots in on the beach in California that I'd take over NYC though.

All I know is, once you see what we have to offer in this state, it's hard to go back where you came from, and most only do it because


--it's high out here
--family back home

No other reason you'd want to live anywhere else, really. We got the weather, the best looking women, the beaches, the car culture, the food...

When you think about it, no other state has the combination of things California offers, and that's why we remain the highest populated state. Texas is 2nd, and we damned near double their population.

NY has good nature, trails, lakes, mountains and shyt if you into that.

Obviously NYC the best city in the country but also comes with its many downsides.

Most of the other cities are past their prime, old rust belt cities. Buffalo is going through a resurgence but still a long way from it’s heyday and Rochester when I went had nothing going on.

Good portion of the state is rural too.

I've never been out West past Vegas so I wouldn't know the Cali vibes. I hate NYC-area houses but you give me a nice brownstone and I'm never leaving. I couldn't see myself living on the West Coast.

Yeah, but Northern New Jersey is part of our Metro. So a lot of the people that live there are either ex-NY'ers or work in the city, they get our news and our radio stations, they root for our sports teams and shyt like that.

Jersey is the buffer for Philly and NYC.

That's because there's a lot of Cali transplants in Vegas probably the main people feeding its population growth.

Our football teams literally play in NJ. I hear you though the thread is about states.
