This is primarily driven by COL... not waning appeal. Ask anyone whose left California if they'd still leave if not for that.

I've lived in many places in the U.S. and SoCal is easily the best region. I personally plan on buying property in L.A. or Long Beach in the next five years. :yeshrug:

What's COL?

Edit: never mind, cost of living ...

San Diego is the best city in the world personally to me but it’s getting expensive. Lots of new start ups having been moving to San Diego now. My wife and I pull in over 250k and feel like we’re poor. If we didn’t buy our place back in 11 I don’t honestly think we can afford to buy a place where we currently live right now and have a comfortable lifestyle. With a mortgage of only 520k instead of 8-900k if we were to buy today we can actually have vacations and save.

Truth be told, but this isn’t just a California problem. It’s a worldwide problem with income inequality. It’ll just be another State after California.

Cali
Drought every year
Fires
Your whole damn paycheck towards rent if you can even find a place.
Pollution
Bad drivers and tourists

Nobody should be surprised that there are less people wanting to live there.
High rents is the only one you said that really matters. The drought thing is pretty much gone. Fires pretty much only affect rich people in the hills and is a wildly overblown media thing. Pollution, bad drivers, tourists is something every mid to major city faces.

My wife and I make less than you guys here in S.D. and don't feel poor at all. We got a great quality of life with most of the bells and whistles. I guess it's all about what life ppl trying to live.

Where I live in north county there is barely any blacks at all but in recent years I’ve notice a lot of BM/WW couples that are youngish probably high 20’s low 30’s. I don’t know if they are military families or not since Camp Pendleton is only about 15 miles away.
