Because Coach K is literally about to retire and Pitino is old as fukk and surrounded by scandal. Coach Cal is the "hottest" coach in basketball right now. Every single college basketball fan (who isn't a KY fan) would LOVE to see him leave. That's how these rumors get started. Unless you're going to explain to me what the logical motivation would be for Cal to start rumors every season implying he's going to leave his team and possibly cost him recruits who aren't sure if he's going to stay I'm all ears. There is no logical reason for Cal to start these rumors. If following one of these rumors he got a pay increase at KY then yeah, where there is smoke there is fire. But he has not "capitalized" AT ALL from any of these rumors.
