I remember before I got in the gym I did tons upon tons of pushups and the firat time I benched I was doing more than my bw. I can still do like 80-100 straight and have an elite bench. I would like to think a lot of that is attributed to the pushups because even though I have impressive pecs if you saw me on the street you would never imagine a 125 lb dude can get up 225. I do a lot of pullupa too. BW exercises give you sneaky fukking strength. I lift for aesthetics but BW really is king for having that true true strength

Another person that's TRIED some type of consistent calisthenics and seen that it works:wow:

The rest of y'all can keep sleeping tho:yeshrug:

To put it in perspective...

My boy (who now works for HSS) had me on this push/pull work out 5 years ago. This was around the time I started realizing a lot of what people thought was good for you wasn't.

My one exercise was bench press two plates (for those that don't know that's 135lbs) x 12, then right after push ups until exhaustion for 4 sets. I did this for 3 months along with the rest of my workout never putting on more weight.

So I decide to find out how much I can actually bench press for shyts and giggles. 225 4 times, 245 1 1/2 times.
I was like :whoo:

Just goes to show, with the right form and hard work you don't need heavy weights to lift big. I also only bench and do push ups with a wide grip/stance :steviej:

It's true calisthenics allow you to keep strength I was working 2 full time jobs no time to workout weight shot up to 180 of gut but at one job I would do push-ups until I could do 100 straight.

When I hit the gym after 7 years of no working out I could push 225 on the bench around like I never could before just from keeping up on my pushup game.

I do weighted pullups and dips cause my current body weight of 165 is easy work

And that's all I'm trying to get people to realize, is that calisthenics can make you just as strong if not stronger than the weights

My dude who I was incarcerated with did nothing but calisthenics for his whole bit,I did 6 years and he was in before me so I think he did 7 or 8,but he was 6'0 235 did crazy calisthenics and no weights and could bench 405 for 3 reps,I kid you not

Pushups/pullups alone consistently will make you steonger than 90% of this flabby country. I see these neantherdal ass whites boys in the gym squatting 450 and cant do a pullup. shyt is comedy to me.

And that's my point.

How the fukk you benching and squatting all this weight but can't move ya own bodyweight around

I've been wanting to lean towards this type of work out, the body type I aim for is normally produced from this kind of thing.

I don't wanna be built like Arnie but like Bruce Lee:shaq: 1000 push ups tho:sadcam:

Will give this a try in combo with gym twice a week? that a good idea?

props OP
