ether is best diss of all time imo...but who shot ya?? better than hit em up??? naw that song didnt hold weight the way hit em up did...and the beat was slap when it was new in like 1996...i dont think u can even make fun of the beat being old cuz it is old breh...like almost 20 years old...lol...and making fun of the outlawz...now thats kinda funny lol but no one in junior mafia was ready to ride like that so.....
So don't front, MC Ren, cuz I remember when you drove a B 2-10.
Broke as a moth...uckin' joke.
Let you on the scene to back up the First Team.
"Tell me why you act so scary?/Givin' your set a bad name with your misspelled name/E-I-H-T, now should I continue?/Yeah, you left out the G 'cause the G ain't in you." - DJ Quik
Remember that time you was rollin on the Westside
And a little brown bucket pulled up on your side
Caught at that light in your Camry in the midst of a
REAL killer, tell me did you feel a little nervous (hell yeah)
You was in the shadow of death
With two trey-five-sevens pointed at your chest, hmm
Whatchu gon do, where was your niccaz that kill at
You ain't got no killers so kill dat

im afraid so.![]()
there will never be a diss record better then these two. but yall to young to know this. and understand what kind of fire these two songs were when they dropped.
Ice Cube - No Vaseline (N.W.A Diss) - YouTube
One man vs an entire team. not just any team the platinum selling NWA the same team he was apart of. no one would have more ammo on each other then these two factions going head to head. it was PERSONAL.
^^Ren was also a writer on NWA albums but CUBE wrote pretty much everything for himself, some for ren, most for Eazy and Dre.
there were so many quotables and REAL life stuff on this song its not even debatable that this in the #1 diss song of all time. doesnt matter how big of artists jay and nas were. jays song was cool but it made no sense why he was dissing nas like that to begin with. which made the beef suspect. then nas' ether comeback was only seen as great not because it was really that great, but because no one thought NAS had that battle rapper in him. he was not that kind of rapper. so the fact he came back with a real fire song with a nice beat and a few funny lines that were truthful about jay. it blew the beef up. but beyond the fact these two dudes were big in hiphop. that diss on the merit of great diss records is not top 3. there was never real beef between them. NEVER.
runner up
DJ Quik - Dollars And Sense - YouTube
Dj Quik vs Mc Eiht
eiht had a camry back then and was seen rolling it around town and on the westside on the shaw at times. for those that dont know mc eiht. or i should say CMW- compton's most wanted. he use to talk about his other crew members and yell out "niccas that kill..." talking about his people. so that line by quik was beyond cold. this was not a fake beef. it started for no reason which even quik acknowledged over the years but eiht never wanted to let it go. so it kept going until this record. eiht responded by no one cared after this quik song. that was the nail in the coffin. and the fact that song was a party favorite made it worse.
I love this track . I was actually revisiting this song last week.
One thing I never realized back in the day . Was the shot at 50 cent :
"Now it's 50 mc's that ain't worth shyt
Get ya ass kicked 50 times, beat to 10 cent"
You're a fukking idiot.

:jayelect:
nah it's actually pac acknowledging that he knew big was talking to him on who shot ya.. anyone with ears could tell who shot ya was a diss song![]()

Tupac diss by Puff Daddy (recorded BEFORE Pac died) - YouTube
wants swept under the rug....GOAT shyt talkeri can respect your opinion older head...im 28 so u must know i know both these songs u posted but imo they are just not as epic as "ether". but def some ill disses. that quik line about "the g aint in you" is so memorable. cube is an all time great but i doubt nas will be doing family movies with corny acting so im a bit biased as well because of cubes recent image...but he gettin money.

see we doing retro disses for stuff dudes do now in they old age. cube is 40 and change. he's supposed to be on some "are we there yet" nonsense by now. its called GROWTH.
the fact you using what he did in his 40's to push down what he did in his 20's is crazy.
that diss to his old crew was so true. there will never be another diss that good. most diss records i know you grew up listening to were between two people who didnt know each other on that kind of a personal level. nor did they have a real reason to beef with one another. most of us didnt understand why jay even went at nas from the jump. even after jay borderline cried on the radio and stated his case. we still dont reallly get why jay went at nas so crazy. it didnt make sense. it sounded like an overly sensitive move. solid diss by jay, but for what reason? that alone always took steam off the entire beef.
and lets be clear nas had like two good lines that were true about jay. #1 was the his looks lines. that was funny and etherish all in one. but beyond that. it was just a hot beat, and a great title to name the track. more so then anything else.
that beef was not REAL. and for the record. NWA was by far the biggest rap group in the game at the time. cube just shook the group to go solo. he was already catching disses thrown his way by NWA at this point. he tried to let it slide but he couldnt take it any longer. so he went in. we're not talking just two west coast establishments on some local beef. the entire world that knew nwa and cube knew about this beef. and they knew how personal it was. these dudes literally grew up together. nuccas knew all the dirt on each other. cube destroyed all of his old homies in one song. that has never been done before and never will be done again.
if i can remember correctly. some of then dudes later in life admitted how cold that diss record was. not long after, dre leaves the group. it was like cube dissed them but was making them smarter because of it. he was getting at them dudes for following a jewish record label owner/ business man taking their money even though they were putting in all the work.
