I still go back from time to time and play Halo on legendary, the library, at least 3 skulls on..I played UC4 on hard and it was fun as hell. But that was about as hard as I would want it to be. Challenging but not overbearing. Crushing would've been to damn frustrating. Raging again and again and repeating areas 10 times or so is wack as fukk.
I like when games give 4 difficulty options because the third hardest is usually on the money.

Playing a game on hard doesn't even mean you have skills, your basically doing the single player equivalent to leeroy jenkins... Sitting there planning your attack to best cheese the AI. The best challenge is always pvp
I can justifiably play games on normal now given my credentials in this field.
All I'm saying is I'm done competing with the AI on the hardest difficulty that sh1t isn't fun, there is something wrong with you as a human being if you find any enjoyment in that. Crushing it''s enough to drive a man insane and has put me of playing games in general, contemplating taking up guitar and I don't remember the other 3 in the series being as unforgiving.
I'm playing on normal or hard if the game deserves it. I want it to be a smooth transaction.
As for Horizon I've only played until the first save point on hard.
I'm sure Uncharted crushing is a different beast altogether try it and come back and tell me I'm wrong.

I'm bowing out gracefully on the hardest though.
Pushed back from playing games on hard myself. Makes them less fun and even tedious. I have limited time to play, so I don't want to spend time playing a level over and over again cause I'm low on bullets or health 
With that said I still enjoy playing a good difficult game where everything is balanced and the challenge comes from mastering the controls/mechanics ala Dark souls or Ori

You will cry tears of relief when you see the game is fun to play like that. Horizon is checkpoint heaven so even if u die you start right back where u left off and the weapon. Variety makes tackling adversity in different ways fun.

Play on whatever difficulty you enjoy and stop worrying about what another man thinks 
getting that trophy that only 1.2% of players got.I do it for the platinum
it's not like beating Super Mario Bros, without warping and/or exploiting turtles for extra men, was particularly easy
It honestly depends on the game. If it's some shyt that's kicking my ass on normal mode, the fukk do I look like raising the difficulty?
Others like Diablo III which I started on Normal, then I had to raise the difficulty to Expert because the other two were too damn easy. Nightmare mode was fun, until I got killed
A harder difficulty is much more satisfying, albeit more frustrating. But I can totally understand if one would play let's say an RPG on normal, just to explore and pay attention to the story.

Similarly, it ain't really a challenge if you're out here exploiting shyt in games to make it easier for yourself.
I know of the exploitable shyt in horizon, it's more of a challenge if you don't bother exploiting it.

Everything's fair in the hardest difficulty. It doesn't make it easy, just manageable.
For example in horizon if I'm running up in a bandit camp in going to run To the middle of the camp and whistle in my bull robot.
Then heads is getting buss and wigs are getting split.
The other option is to play on normal and easy where there's no fear of punishment from enemy offense.
