You didn't like Purple Haze? That was the first Cam I heard that wasn't Killa Cam from the COTC days.
Maybe I'm biased cause I heard PH first.
I did, I bought that in December 2004, same day as R.U.L.E
After 2004 though, he lost a lot of his step to me. He'll still have a hot track every now and then, but that was the time when I remember checking out of his music, to some degree.

The whole Cam's rhymes being simple thing stems from "Computers Putin" in the Get Em Girls opening verse and then the parody cartoons. The irony of that verse is he's rapping with the same high technical and mutli syllable skills that Royce and Em have been getting praised for the last 10 years, while actually making more sense than they do.

A lot of people aren't catching the Wood, Henny, Hemi connection. Cars can have woodgrain panels put into them. Hennessey is or was the upgraded naming for Dodge cars that have Hemi motors in them.

I feel like an overlooked aspect of why ppl say Cam "fell off" after Roc-a-Fella was less about his lyrics and more about his beat selection being low key kinda trash during that time
Diplomatic Immunity 2 had a few joints.....but as a whole that shyt not holding a candle to the first Diplomatic Immunity, and the production especially is really the biggest step down. But the few times Cam does get a quality beat on there he goes off IE Bigger Picture
Solo album wise it was the same thing with Killa Season beats being mid compared to Purple Haze or CHWM, and really it got even worse after him and Jim fell out....like them straight up trash beats he had on that Public Enemy #1 mixtape
or trying to bring Vado into the game with this boring ass generic sounding shyt
Crime Pays supposed to be a big Cam comeback album and its nothing but Arab and Skitzo beats that are
for the most part? That album is forgettable as hell I had to come back and edit this post after i realized i aint even think bout it
BOAB series was actually a little better beatwise (not saying much) but then you always had issues on them tapes with the sound/recording/mastering quality
I dunno if the cause of all this was Cam being cheap and not wanting to pay big name producers, producers back then being scared to do business with Cam because it might piss of Jay, or that Cam genuinely thought them shyts sounded good, but regardless I feel like that part of it did more damage to his career momentum than his lyrical style ever did
