Rick Ross - Magnificent Lyrics ft. John Legend [New Video] - YouTube

Here I Am - Rick Ross feat Nelly and Avery Storm - YouTube

tracks like those woulda been hits in the 90s, plus the RnB scene back then wouldve benefited Ross because he's great at mixing hiphop with rnb(a lost art if u ask me.) I know Ross woulda hit up Jodeci or Boys to Men for some hooks

Ross understands how to make that "feel good" music that was popular back then

"here i am" would not be a hit at all in the '90s. it prolly wouldnt even exist.

"magnificent" would be a lower-tier rap city hit at best.

and r&b singers werent running around hoppin on rappers tracks all willy-nilly like that unless they were in a crew with rappers. other than that, when they hopped on a track, it was a big deal. and rick ross wouldnt have had access to a jodeci or boyz II men. like dude said, at best, he would be 8ball & mjg status.

I can't believe this is even a question. How old are some of y'all in this room? Big set the blueprint for Ross creating his concepts for his song. To the original poster what are we basing this off of??.....Certainly not a comparison of albums for the obvious reasons big only had 2 official ones. If we're talking quality of music hell fukk no :childplease:. Rozay got a few rap/r&b joints don't get me wrong, from the joint on his 1st album with Mario Winans, to Aston Martin Music with Chrissette. But nothing Ross has ever dropped can capture that feeling of hearing, the "one more chance remix", or "i'm fukking you tonight", or on some street shyt "i love the dough", "back to cali", "nikkas bleed", or his verse on "last days", "warning" etc.

This thread will always and forever do numbers when and wherever it's made.

My two cents; BIG has undeniable classics. Ross has good songs. BIG already accomplished this by 24, in two albums. Ross is like 34-36, on his fourth(?) album still trying to make undeniably classic tracks people will talk about for years. He's at his peak right now so he may do just that, but only time will tell. But for now he's found his niche following the blueprint Biggie laid out and that's not a bad thing.

Nah homie Here i Am wouldve definitely been a hit. I know a lot of older folks who love that song. And how do u know who Ross would and would not have had access too?

Bruh u letting that nostalgia blind u, but its your opinion so i can't argue that :mjpls:

Back on topic of the thread though

i personally dont really need to hear much else from Ross to know that he's>>Biggie. The music speaks for itself, Ross will actually be a mogul by the time his career ends(the brother's business mind is underrated), and he has the keen ability to make other artists around him better. No one has to agree with me, but if GFID is as good as im expecting Ross will have earned his spot in my top 5.

nah. i doubt that "here i am" would even be recorded in the '90s.

i never let nostalgia blind me. especially in this case, seeing that i was never into biggie. i think youre a little too caught up in your specific era to see the big picture.

i say that those ross songs would ranged from small hits all the way down to non-existent in the '90s because i was there living it. and actually, ross does have a handful of joints that wouldve faired well in the '90s. yet, these are the songs you named?:scusthov:

hes nowhere near top 5. but he will definitely crack my top 50 if he comes thru with this album. possibly top 45. i love watching curent rappers move up my list.

That's the beauty of it though, there are almost countless songs i can name from Ross that i know i wouldve loved back in the 90s. You can tell that Ross is a product of that era and not this homo era that we're witnessing right now.

Why are these two Artists being compared? Biggie has like what two albums and he's dead? The only reason I can think they've been compared is that they're both fat.

nevermind the fact that ross lifted alot of biggie's style & image and has been passed off as "the new biggie" by puffy himself.

its not like we're comparing him to other fat rappers, some of which would actually be a better comparison talent-wise.

there is no homo era. just a bunch of industry plants in the mainstream being forced on the public that have still yet to be properly recieved. i dont even acknowledge most of them fakkits.

im not sleeping on anything. ross is going down as a legend in my book. hes just not the caliber of legend that some of yall are trying to portray him as. youre getting caught up in the moment. no classic album and hes too hit-or-miss. he'd be lucky to crack my top 40, let alone top 5.:stop:

Can't cosign that no classic albums argument. Teflon Don an DTR are classic albums and GFID is shaping to be his 3rd classic.

Of course Ross can't recapture that feeling WITH YOU. If u were actually there when those songs came out i highly doubt any artist could duplicate the nostalgia u have for those songs.

Its unfair to downplay Ross' music just because u have an emotional attachment to Biggie
