Classic usually indicates that there is a consensus among fans about the quality of the music. If multiple rap fans tell you the songs are forgettable they are probably not "Classic"

Nobody said they hadn't heard the songs, they said the songs are not classic

thanks for translating to dude and saving me time.

props.

:krs: somebody gets it

He deff was. Especially in the hip hop community. Nas was untouchable back then. One of his biggest fan was telling you this on "This Can't Be Life" when he mentioned the "Illmatic Rock"

But IWW is the most disappointing album of all time. How was he seeing BiG having made such a controversial album?

Not for one millisecond was Nas ever more popular than Biggie.

He was nicer until he fukked up. But he was bangin Nas, Mobb Deep and Wu level artist. I like those artists more. But they weren't dominating the way BIG was at radio or soundscan.

we understand you hate iww. but be honest. it was only disappointing to nas purists. the other 2 plus million people liked it and they had never heard illmatic before iww dropped.

in the summer of 96 i would say he was.

Big Fail aka Skip Failous, It was Written was viewed as a crossover attempt at a time when Puffy was making it cool to crossover.

Think you stupid mother fukker.

One artists uses the blueprint gets killed and is immortalized thanks to his A&R/CEO/"friend" the other goes on to catch hell for it because of two or three joints that contained samples and videos where they rocked shiny suits.

:takedat: won

The only rappers that believe that GOAT hype was The Lox & Lil Kim. The Lox still don't get how :take dat: brainwashed them in more ways than one.

Jay realized this years ago and began his own marketing campaign for "GOAT"

If you think Nas was more popular than BIG in 1994-1996, you reeeaaallly don't know what the fukk you're talking about.

And what does that matter anyway? Ross gets outsold by a bunch of artists...including Nas. :smugfavre:

So he's not the "hottest out" either. :manny:

i think it's a better overall album than illmatic, at least on nas' end, but maybe not production. if you acapella illmatic and iww, iww wins.
