A-Rod's name got stained. He sat out an entire year. He's got a huge chip on his shoulder. I guarantee that's the one thing keeping him motivated to keep playing hard. He's got his eye on it so he's going to get it in my opinion unless he injures himself somehow.

A gawd gone have da record.. He can easily hit 25 homers this year and next for the Yankees and then some small market team will pay him to be a dh.. Maybe not even the full time dh just for all that will come with it

Do you guys think if he sticks around for say even 4-5 more years for a small market team just to break that record, it would've been enough time for the public to sort of forget and just celebrate the achievement?

PEDs or not. A lot of players were on PEDs but they couldn't get this close to the record. (besides Barry Bonds).

Of course. The media makes a big deal out of PED's. The guy is basically turning hands back of time.Plus if NY can forgive you, anywhere else can. I don't know if he has 4-5 years left.Give him 3 more the max.The guy damn near made all star team this year.

If it wasn't for the PEDs, he would've been a shoo-in for the All-Star game. I dunno. I thought Big Papi was going to be done 5 years ago and look at him. I think A-Rod still looking sharp so it won't be too unbelievable if he sticks it out for 4-5 years. There's a huge drop off once the slowdown hits though. Let's see. Power is the last thing to go.

I thought about it some more. He's 40 years old. I'm just wishful thinking. The record is safe. A-Rod won't make it.

Besides this year, the last time he hit for 20+ HR was in 2010 when he was 35. He ain't doing that at 41, 42, 43 years old. The Yanks are already trying to shut him down or maybe he has some hidden injury that needs resting.
