A lot of the rappers back then had crossover appeal to other fanbases/genres of music. These new rappers are lacking that when it comes to both sound and lyrics.

It also seems most of the young gen into Hip Hop is listening to rage music, and I don't think that type of music will ever be any bigger than what it currently is.

I actually really fukk with rage music in theory but the rappers and producers making it don't have the musical chops, creativity, or breadth of knowledge about other genres like rock and electronic music to make the music as dope as it COULD be. Imagine if prime El-P or the Bomb Squad were making rage music, or ol boy from Digable Planets/Shabazz Palaces

I feel like he does it on purpose. He did well enough on “Diamond Teeth Samurai”. That’s the only song of his I ever put on repeat, but the rest is doo doo. He reminds me of Uzi or Durk who can be entertaining as hell when they actually rap and not do that terrible singing bullshyt.

That's cuz they're terrible singers and always trying to do that high pitch yelling singing BS. At least Drake being an average singer is smart enough to stay in his range.
