You think he wasn't a bad president and yet he was a one-termer....but you're so convinced Obama will win :usure: Think about it.

Man shut your low information ass up. Jimmy Carter wasn't even liberal, you idiot. He's part of the same bipartisan neoliberal consensus as every President since Nixon. The question is specifically what did Jimmy Carter do on policy that was so bad. Jimmy Carter didn't set the federal funds rate. Jimmy Carter didn't create out of control inflation. You obviously don't know shyt about his presidency and are just parroting what you heard in the media like a sheep. If you can't tell me what he policies he enacted that were so bad, stfu and let the adults talk.

That being said, Carter is just an example of how Presidents get judged based on situational realities that are out of their control. Paul Volcker jacked up interest rates and contracted the money supply to tackle inflation, which damaged Carter then slashed interest rates and expanded the money supply which propped up Reagan. And Reagan gets credit for ending the Cold War which is silly because the U.S.S.R. model was unsustainable. Bush I presided over a recession and lost a lot of people by breaking his promise and raising taxes even though it was the right move. Then Clinton got props for riding the wave of the tech boom and artificially low interest rates. And he set the stage for the financial collapse a decade later by greenlighting unregulated derivatives trading and repealing Glass-Steagall, which he seems to escape criticism for. So it seems for recent history at least, presidents are often unfairly praised or derided based on a situational circumstances largely out of their control. Now Bush II? He was just unequivocally a disaster.

Jimmy Carter is the most noble man we have had as president we had since FDR and LBJ. people can hate all they want, but seems like a man of decency and integrity. Americans are dumb though and like their presents to look the part even if they talk rubbish. hence why flip flopper romney is even competing as he lies shamelessly.

I once wrote a paper on Carter back in my last semester of college. Dude was a good president who wasn't supported by any of the dems in congress. Dude had no clout. And like someone else said, he fumbled on the Iran hostage situation.

I think this is the crux of it.

The Iran situation was bad too, but he had no support on Capitol Hill.

You have to remember, Carter was an outsider. He came from Georgia with little to no influence in Washington politics. It ate him up.

He had some great ideas but had no idea how to navigate the waters. Then Iran happened, and he was doomed.

Dude has to have one of the most unfair negative reputations of anybody in history. Republicans go with this meme that he is the model for a horrible presidency, and most people seem to just go along with it.

What did he do that was so bad? Speak facts.

He let the Cubans in.

He wasn't. shytting on Carter became a meme like everything else. People just assume it's true the same way they assume Ronald "Mr. Maggoo" Reagan was a great President.
  • Had alzheimers while in office
  • YOu can find clips of him getting punked all trhoughtout his presidency
  • Was an absentee President, had the vacation record before Bush II and Trump obliterated it
  • Iran Contra Cocaine; only reason he wasn't impeached was no one wanted to humiliate him on the stand and show how bad his alzheimers really was
  • Got credit for the Afghanistan trap that was set up for the Russians by Carter and Zbnew Brezinski[sic]. And that strategy was created by Eisenhower. But, somehow Reagan got credit for the fall of communism.
  • There's evidence he made a backdoor deal with the Iranians to hold the hostages until after the election
Now Carter, I don't know a whole lot about his Presidency but what I do know
  • Almost single handedly created the Middle eastern peace agreement between Egypt and Israel which did a whole lot to stabilize the region
  • He got screwed by having to eat the bill for the Vietnam war.
  • Also got screwed by Ted Kennedy who tanked national health care all because he was salty he didn't get the nod for the Dem nomination
  • Ted Kennedy probably fukked up Carter's reelection with all his backstabbing as well.
