Carter shows how important narrative is. He was probably a better president than Reagan. Reagan had awful scandals, started the out-of-control national debt, caused two recessions...but he had a bunch of deep fanboys and was the "great communicator" so he gets a pass.
Fast forward to today and a lot of the disasters in Central America, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Isis, and like I said before our entire national debt not to mention wage stagnation can all be pinned on Reagan. But he'll always have his fanboys.
