that's just entropy, breh. as time goes on, things get more chaotic. it's not necessarily a 'devolution' unless you consider the outdated model of progress to be aiming for some singular, grand achievement by humanity, which isn't realistic and usually just ends up with a couple crazy fukkers trying to dominate the entire globe.
What does the word Devolve mean to you ?
- The concept of "devolution" is built on the notion that evolution has a direction (thus, devolution occurs when evolution goes "backwards"), but evolution does not have a direction. Natural selection simply adapts organisms to their current environment, and what is beneficial may change as the environment changes.
exactly. not to get too philosophic, but traditional models are 'arborescent' (shaped like a christmas tree) with a top-down hierarchy. in recent decades, there's been a movement toward more 'rhizomatic' models which don't have the same top-down hierarchy, are heteroarchic, and basically sprout up from anywhere and lead in any direction.
for example, science used to be about trying to classify the world and basically control the universe, but now you're less likely to find scientists trying to control the natural world to their whim and are more inclined to try and find ways to be more sustainable and fit in with the natural environment. get in where you fit in, as it were.
