Look at it from the front office's point of view. He is our best player and other high market teams will pay money for him. On top of that, no key players want to come to Memphis. Who the fukk wants to play for the Grizzles in Memphis. Not just because of the team, but the city as well. You can get robbed and clapped just for opening your window.
Statistically, Memphis is only safer than 1% of all cities in the U.S. :comeon:

So it's ether pay to keep him here or lose him and have a bunch of money that you wouldn't spend. :manny:
Of course he doesn't deserve to be the highest paid player. He is a game manager.

Joe johnson wasnt an all star when he gotnpaid neither but he kept the hawks in the playoffs yearly and was the most productive player rhey had of the past 15 or si years ourside mutumbo
This is not a Joe Johnson or James Harden situation where bro is suddenly going to become a perennial All-Star.

Breh is already 28

The NBA should allow only one max contract(35%) per team with 4 years being the max length of the contract. The team minimum salary cap should be lowered to 50% of the salary cap max.Teams should not be forced to pay 10-15 million dollars per year for players that are not worth it .I don't blame the owners,I blame the nba.People keep saying that the owners can't control their spending, but the nba has a salary cap floor that requires the owners to spend the money. The agents/players know this,so they take advantage of it.

Google is your friend. There's a couple articles breaking this down, it's not something that members of this message board pulled outta they azz.
It just became something everyone said. I don't remember people constantly bringing up how underrated Ty Lawson, Jeff Teague, Goran Dragic, etc were.

Mike Conley doesn't merit a lot of coverage because he's just average at his position in comparison to the rest of the league. I never thought he was overlooked at all, he's just not as good as the guys who get more praise.

Every time the salary cap goes up,non rookie contract players should be allowed to renegotiate.Wall, curry, etc would all get the money they deserve and the salaries of bums like Parsons would be kept in check.

he would've gone somewhere else for a similar sum then.
also, superstars have other streams of revenue that Conley won't be seeing. far from the highest earning player even if his salary is really high.
and next year that contract will be topped easily

that's what the NBPA negotiated so they can't really change it

I'm not upset at players getting money,i'm upset at who's getting the money. They need to create a supermax contract for guys like Lebron.

1.Supermax contracts would not count against the salary cap or luxury tax.

2.Supermax would be unlimited.Players can negotiate for as much as he want.

3.Supermax would be non guaranteed. If a player gets injured, the contract can be terminated by the team.
