I keep seeing this being said, but who are his stans in particular?? yall gotta name names. cuz apparently I got grouped in as a 50 stan and I despise the guy.

and I don't see people denying jarule's star-power. theyre citing his lack of popularity with the core rap audience. I think most will agree that from jarule was a top 5 most successful rapper of the early 2000s - even cracking the top 3 towards the end.

jarule only went gold in '99.

the '04 album ran thru 05.

thats why i said her run was 02-05. worlds away from being generalized as part of the 99-02 era.
When I said 99-02. That was a generalized Ja+Ashanti run. His run obviously helped her when she came out. He was popping from 99-02 and she came in at the end of 2001 all the way to 04. Her last successful single was released that year. The song on 05 wasn’t even available in the US.

:mjlol: at saying Chingy is/was a bigger artist than Ja. He had two tracks off one album that were popular for a year but have long past faded into obscurity. Been years since I've heard Chingy on the radio, at a bar/club, or anywhere for that matter.

its basically the same situation bro.

dmx, jay-z & jarule were all down with irv gotti, and the fact that they were all landed on def jam, made it easy for them to follow thru with the group idea.

same umbrella.
Doesn't change anything. They were all dropping tracks as flagship artist, not as label mates looking for help.

Ja wasn't "Their guy". He and Irv had their own shyt. That's power.
And them nikkas STILL aint want to form a group with dude.

Speaks volumes, my man..
Jay and DMX don't get along. But I'll let you continue to rewrite.

When have you ever heard a ja record at a club or bar?

ashanti with irv gotti in in her corner, was gonna blow regardless.

im not talking about singles. I said "concrete rose" was more of an '05 album, cuz it dropped in the last month of '04.
besides, she still had hits on her albums after that.

if it wasn't for Irvin, jarule wouldn't have been grouped up with them.

you can spin it however you want to make it seem like jarule was some type of don.

That's neither here nor there. 3 MCs rapped on multiple tracks and all held their own.

I understand saying he's below Jay and X, but stop with the bullshyt like he wasn't pulling his own weight.

I didn't say the bolded
in fact, I said the OPPOSITE of that already and gave jarule props in multiple posts.

problem is, youre too deep in your feelings & trying to paint a whole nother picture like jarule was THAT DUDE or some chit.

And Ja Rule was Irv gottis most successful artists at that point and built murder inc. Ashanti, besides making good music, benefitted form being on the same labal as one of the top 5 rappers out at the time. You can hate Ja all you want any but let’s not sit here and act like he wasn’t waving that murder inc flag and carrying that shyt untill Ashanti popped off.

As for concerts rose I see what your saying, but after that she had no hits. She barely had a hit on that album. Everything afterwise was a dud

There ain’t no spinning buffs. Ja Rule st his peak was one of the most popular rappers out and Ashanti was helped, and eventually helped churn out those hits. I’m old enough to remember that era fondly

how am I hating on jarule?? wheres the logic to this stuff??

shes had a grip of his since "concrete rose" homie. maybe you just don't follow r&b like that. she usually has at least one joint that makes noise whenever she drops an elbum with promo.

how did ashanti benefit from jarule exactly?? I mean of course, if a label is already established, youre gonna get extra looks, but she had her own following and didn't miss a beat when jarule got booted into obscurity. she had tons of fans that didn't even rock with murder inc bro. I guess next we're gonna say Lloyd benefited from jarule too, right?

and if we're being real, fat joe is the one that gave ashanti her big break. if it wasn't for "whats luv", she would've been on the shelf with the rest of the label.

what hes saying is that Eminem's black fanbase was 95% L7s & vics.

jay went at nas because he thought nas was finished, and he wanted that notch on his belt. that's what jay-z does. he picks his spots for notches. whether it be rappers or styles or fashion trends that are on the downside. nas was NOT poppin in 00-01 bro.

jarule was a bigger act than Ludacris.

One could argue that Ja's fanbase was "L7's and vics" more so than Em's was and that wasn't what dude was saying at all.

Your argument about Jay going at Nas makes no sense. You don't get a notch under your belt for dissing an MC that's irrelevant. Jay went at Nas because Nas was held in high regard. Even though, he'd slipped some notches, Nas was still respected. Every rapper Jay targeted on "Takeover" were MC's that were in the way. Nas was never an MC who had consecutive hit records. He was always someone who was respected for their pen first and foremost, which is my point. Ja Rule never was held in that regard. Nas in 2000 and 2001 still had more respect as an MC than Ja Rule ever did.

Ja was not a bigger act than Ludacris. They were at least neck and neck.

When Ashanti came out, you think being tied to a triple platinum rapper who was one of the biggest in the world, didn’t help her out? Come on now

And fat joe “what’s love” came out after Ja and Ashanti went #1 On billboard with always on time so what exactly are you saying Breh? Her album was already released by then

Concerte rose spawned only one minor hit and wasn’t that successful compared to her previous joints.

Where’s the logic to any of this

When I first saw that promo with Jay, X and Ja..I was real young but I was thinking they should have gotten Juvenile instead of Ja...I didn't understand it at the time because Ja was nowhere near the level of the other two. To a young listener he was...in lack of better words....a nobody...at the time
