Ja Rule caused his own demise really. He was beefing with DMX, and claiming he was 2 Pac in the flesh, not to mention he turned into a full time singer something he said he wouldn't do. Then he released that mediocre "Thug Lovin" with Bobby Brown. Had "Mesmerize" been the lead single, his first week sales would've been where the other ones were. 50 Cent gets too much credit for "ending" Ja's career.

Sales is obviously not the correct metric if we’re talking about what Ja was. He had all the birdbrain broads in the world. But he was still had bits that everyone fukked with. But people love to attribute 50 his demise when in reality it was cause he stopped dropping thls classic smash hits

Right Thurr was bigger than any solo Ja record.

Just gonna point out I have documentation this is correct.

"Right Thurr" is the #152 most-played single of The Rock Era
Ja's biggest, "Always On Time" is #175

...while I've got the book open:

Chingy's next biggest song "One Call Away" (#534) is also higher than Ja's next biggest "Mesmerize" (#720)
"Holidae Inn" is #1157

Jay-Z doesn't enter the list as a solo until "'03 Bonnie & Clyde" (#1277)
"Dirt Off Your Shoulder" is #1519
"Can I Get A..." is #2906"

So really someone could make the arguments that Ja was more popular Jay-Z, and Ching was more popular than both. This is the problem with looking at "popularity" without context.

Ja was nothing like Chingy
:gucci: He had the streets . He was backed by murder inc and was considered a gangsta rapper until 2002
Ja never had the streets. No one was bumping ja rule. He wasn’t being played in clubs

Anyway, Ja had some BANGERS...

But I never bought no Ja album, cuzz.
Now that I think about it, I never bought no 50 album either.

After the dust settled, they're kinda even.

that was partly the the reason, the real reason is that he was beefing with Eminem and went at his head with this joint

his career hasn't been the same since Interscope went over their budget making sure Ja wouldn't ever win the beef. they protected him and the fans made their mind who won.
