Can Jalen Hurts be better than Donovan Mcnabb was

This past season Hurts showed hes capable of dialing in his risk taking to perfectly match the game scenario.

McNabb couldnt do that at all.

On the other hand, McNabb in todays era would be insane. A quarterback as big, strong and fast as him who is capable of going under center? With how quarterbacks are protected today his injuries would have been less.

So I think McNabb in modern day would have better stats and everyone would say he's better than Hurts. But I don't know if he'd win more.

People spent most of the year saying Jordan Love and Justin Herbert were better than Hurts. I'd say even the day before the Super Bowl most people were still saying that. Those people would take McNabb over Hurts if they were contemporaries.

But Hurts has a ring.

Hurts is unique in that his game is tuned for efficiency versus volume. So it is very hard to compare him to players of his own era, let alone other eras. A perfect Jalen Hurts game is 200+ yards in the air, 50 rushing hards, two pass TDs, a rushing TD, and a few fourth downs converted. He will have many of those in his career. Compared to pure passing QBs, or even talented rushing QBs, the volume doesn’t look spectacular but it’s effective, probably more effective than bigger stats

McCabb could peak for much better stats than Jalen can given his size, arm and speed. But would be as effective and efficient, consistently, on a team that expects to content for a Super Bowl the next five years? Probably not

This is a tad misleading.

McNabb had nowhere near the talent at Receiver his first five seasons in the league that Hurts currently. He did not have one single 1,000 receiver until the Eagles finally traded for TO in 2004; the best season a receiver had during that span was James Thrash who had 63/833/8 in 2001. He also missed the final 6 regular season games in the 2002 season due to a broken foot (happened to have thrown for 4 touchdowns during that game while playing with the broken foot because Arizona was that bad). McNabb had to overcome a lot of bullshyt play at WR; it wasn't until later in his time with the Eagles that they were able to get talent at WR (DeJack & Maclin), but Vick and Foles benefitted more from them than McNabb did.

With that said, the one thing McNabb lacked that Hurts has is the killer instinct. McNabb was a goof at times he should have been serious. There's no scenario where you'd see Hurts dancing for the camera before a game like McNabb did during the one playoff game in Dallas (think it was his last game for the Eagles ironically enough).
