Can one argue that "It Was Written" was better than "illmatic"

The booking isn't the same these days. They try to cater to a younger audience with the pg era and have dumbed down the product. Too many performers not being booked right and many of them can't even cut a decent promo. Seems like the good talent doesn't get as much opportunities and it shows in the record sales. Too much performance enhancing drugs being used also. I don't know if that's what's causing rappers to mumble during their promos or if the industry is just in a down period until rapmania season.

Illmatic had two boring duds on it in my opinion.

Halftime and One Time 4 ya Mind were always garbage to me. I don't give a fukk what y'all think.

IWW didn't have any songs as weak as that. I will say this, Illmatic had some of Nas most memorable verses, but IWW the level of rhyming was consistently high and most importantly he experimented with the flow a lot and it worked.

It's time to admit Birdman's burial messed up Lil Wayne's intercontinental championship run. Now he's being forced to perform at bingo halls with less then 30 people:snoop::to:
Yeah it's a complete different animal than performing in the big arenas. Hopefully he's helping put the newer talent over. I feel that it's more difficult performing in the bingo halls. Not as protected as in the big stage and you have to be good at your craft or else. The mainstream artists are mostly protected by the company and the product is all about entertainment based on selling merchandise and cutting promos. Songs full of rest holds and false finishes, you think the verse is over but that's just a pause in the flow. Doing the independent bingo halls brings out a performers inner talent. It's more hardcore and the lyrics are riskier. That's why they say some rappers sell out when they reach mainstream and they not talking about the gate sales.

I will admit that Hunter Birdman Helmsley is famous for burying talent all over his territory. Surprised that he hasn't returned for another main event title run, although I haven't been keeping up with the product as much as before.

I certainly prefer IWW to Illmatic. But then I was born in 1994, so I don't know or care about the whole authenticity/fakeness thing that the older heads are talking about in this thread :flabbynsick:

For me it's just about music and musically, IWW is simply superior, like how All Eyez on Me is simply musically superior to 2Pacalypse Now even if 2Pacalypse is way more authentic and real

nah if anything shyt is like ECW, all these dudes are drugged out

and these companies are doing like Heyman did, hiding the negatives highlighting the positives

the promos are trash, but the theme music and character get them over.

they might not last long but they're here and they're noticed

ye def got the goat gimmicks and promos. he also does a good job of putting talent over, which makes his championship runs that much more dynamic, unlike 50 who squashed everybody in his path and did a lot of behind the scenes politicking, even breaking kayfabe in the middle of live promos

ye even put nicki over in the middle of a championship heel run. the amount of classic face and heel turns this guy pulls off is a testament to his goat work rate

drizzy gimmick might get stale, but the stolen move sets keep him fresh, even it means promising young talent having to job out to put him over. fetty kingston and dram ziggler were always gonna get buried tho.

cole and kenny just can't match drizzy work rate, even if they formed a stable in the tag team division like drizzy did with future

future been holdin on to the big gold belt ever since his undisputed championship DS2 run where he also held the tag titles with drizzy.

now future back with the tag team title with young thug while still holdin onto the gold belt

kenny finally a big draw as champ, but i know he shook drizzy wont put him over, especially after he squashed meek foley in that loser leaves town match. that's still crazy, cause the pops meek would get were unreal:wow:

but u can't just go breakin kayfabe cause your low draws keep u in the midcards despite all the love from the neckbeards

how u shoot yourself into a work, and still get squashed?:francis:
that's what happens when u depend on the beards to carry u:francis:
and everybody kno neckbeards don't be coppin merch like that:stopitslime:
