Can one argue that "It Was Written" was better than "illmatic"

DMX coulda carried the industry back in the day. Him and Jay-Z had house show business peaking before X got caught with all those wellness violations. Ruff Ryders was looking like a top tier stable and coulda had a huge angle vs. RocaFella. Its like the Def Jam lost faith in him and immediately started burying him and giving him lousy booking.

The pops that stone cold DMX got in '98

Ilmatic: The album debuted at #12 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling 59,000 copies in its first week.
It Was Written: Proved to be Nas’s most commercially successful album to date, selling 268,000 copies at the time of its chart debut.

Illmatic never drew a dime. IWW was the bigger draw therefore better.

DMX Run was :wow:

Its a shame he got welnessed one too many times, everyone was on that ruff ryder wave then :wow:

Whats wild is everyone was hype about snoop's american debut, and he was MOLTEN hot during his first run...but by the time he got his second title people were done with him.

His comeback when he went to the southern territory and was managed by Master-P was surprisingly good. His workrate was maybe a step back, but his presentation and production values were better than his second title run for sure. Low key, 99 snoop > 96 snoop for sure...

What really held Snoop back on his second album was he Tore his MCL right after Doggystyle. Master P did good with teh southern territoy and is under-rated for sure. He did book Snoop Dogg and was one of the GOAT enforcers in not letting Suge touch him :wow:

98 X pops were ridiculous.

The only time i saw crowds hotter were RIGHT before NWA broke up, and ice cube went on his solo run. Dude kept the belt for three years straight and left Ren and Dre in the dust. What cube did to NWA makes what shawn did to marty look like even-steven booking.

Breh, The TRU kliq was over as fukk. C-Murder never getting the belt still blows my mind. And Silkk's workrate was terrible but he had a huge fanbase...and was always over. The run he had where Mya was his valet was :banderas:

When they rode in on the tank to the ring for their match against the Hot Boyz was one of the GOAT Wrestlemania moments :banderas::banderas:

Still can't believe they let that midget Wayne near the title scene during the Ruthless Aggression era, whose idea was that

Maan....... DMX run was dope and he got written out of history by Jay-Z stans TBH
all this talk about Jay being the man, in Jay-Z prime the man was DMX. Eminem had a good run too but his fan base is :camby:

C-Murder :wow: , hell Mac was fixing to get a run before he got wellnessed'
Slikk the shocker had charisma and a larger than life character that indy neckbeards surely dont have. Even though Slikk was in like 50 botchamanias I still miss dude, he had "it"

Low key the LOX running the game with FREEBIRD RULES was a GOAT tag team run...honestly i like the freebird rules dynamic...it worked for Run DMC, LOX, and to a lesser extent G-Unit

You got around to it, but you can't talk about freebird rules without talking about the southern territory. Three 6 Mafia had the neckbeards going crazy.

When Juicy J finally got that oscar gold :blessed:

Three Six, UGK, Outkast...the tag team scene in the South round that time couldn't be matched. Even 8-Ball & MJG had a nice little run there

J-Prince territory in Texas is something people forget to mention :wow:
He had Scarface who was Heavyweight Champ for about 2 years. Geto Boys had that 300 day tag team championship reign too :wow:
