dame said that too... dame said "the moment i knew it was over was when me and jay hopped in an elevator.. i had on my gear, hat cocked, baggy... jay had on an ascot"

now you see who jay is... you still see what dame is doing...... do you think they could still rock like that?? hell no

The irony though, now Dame dressin like a jewish hipster

The obvious...

- Jay got tired of splitting his money 3 ways

- Dame's over aggressive business style became played out.

- Dame making company moves without getting Jays input.

My theory...

- Aaliyah had something to do with it!!

Lol, what's stopping him from being a great VP today? Son couldn't even keep Dipset poppin.

i was half joking/half sarcastic over the VP thing because it was seen like a vanity title and a way for Dame and Biggs to put money in Cam and Beans pockets from the crackers/jews at the lablel...but i did like he made it a point to prop up Freeway.

he might've done a decent job back then if he was getting checks on the regular for it..but now ? he has said don't give a fukk about music like that now because theres not much money in it like that for him now and its to keep fans happy enough while he makes money off other things..thats why his newest outpout has been mostly meh and mostly from the vault.

but...he was also someone that wanted everybody on his team to eat and nearly everybody in the main Dipset and then Vado he built them up enough to the point they had something going for them and it was up to them if they could keep the momentum going or fumble.

Looking at all those Dame Dash Hip Hop Motivation on youtube, Dame seems like a difficult cat to work with.
He keeps referring to "on the streets you don't...", so he decides to abide by street rules and he said that's why he don't handle things humbly or politely.

At first I thought he was being black balled, but I think dudes legitly don't work with him. He even had a falling out with Jim Jones.

apparently Dame ran up on the Weinsteins at a restaurant back in the day.
one of the easiest ways to get yourself blackballed right there.

they already weren't owners tho.... they sold 50% of rocafella a long time ago... those 3 combined, owned just as much as def jam as a company... then add that on top of they are distributed by def jam as well. that's two checks to def jam, 1 check to the roc and you split that check with 3 people

now could they have just made another venture... sure they could

but that's not what jay wanted to do. that's what i was saying in my first post.. jay didn't want to associate with dame anymore.. at all

to HIM, he was bad for business and doing too much in the light, when he should have been like lyor... quiet, in the cut, making moves, but not making noise

now dame wasn't gonna do that either... you still see him now... same attitude... same talk... and it's gotten him basically blackballed

jay just simply didn't want him around and cut him out the deal. figuring, ok go make another rapper hot... meanwhile i'm gonna show you how to make hundreds of millions and keep my mouth shut while doing it... he said all this on lost ones

that's business.. you got a bad business partner, you cut him out no matter the past... you want to do your own thing, you go do it... you don't wait on the next man or hope he agrees or whatever.... you got your own life to live... you can't be letting nikkas hold you back based on friendship.

a real friend would disagree with your moves, but be happy and pray for you that you make it.... not be spiteful on some "fukk you, you ain't getting that master cause you want to leave" well now what you got dame?? 1 master and what??

Everything you said in this thread is exactly how I feel about it.

Lyor tried to get Jay to cut ties with Dame/Biggs years before he finally did, but he didn't out of loyalty. It wasn't until Dame got out of control (signing any and everybody, making huge desicions without his equal partner's input, letting a dude he brought to the label openly diss his equal partner, shytting on his artists so much to the point where hardly any of them could stand him, and firing all of the staff who worked closely with Hov at Rocafella, who in turn rehired them to work directly under him) that Jay saw that there was really no reason to keep him around.

Exactly. People act like jay was supposed to be happy hitting the ceiling. He wasn't. It's obvious today, the type of moves HE wanted to make

Can anybody seriously say they could see dame involved in any of this?? Could you see dame owning .anything of a sports team how he acts? The nba wouldn't even approve it.

Could you see dame in an HP commercial. Or hobnobbing with the whites. Or putting together made in America with Opie. Or sitting down to CAA to do sports management. Yelling at people. Being drunk. High. Loud. ghetto. Harlem

No. And that's fine. Dame wants to stay the same and jay never said it was wrong. He just said it's not what he wants to do

I connect to this from having two friends and a clothing line. One is straight hood. Jail every 3 years for a stretch. Still hustling. Couldn't bring him nowhere cause he act a fool and say anything. Had to cut him off the business side

My other boy designs. But slow. Lazy. Wants to make it a hood line. Had to cut him off.

Not cause they ain't my friends. We still chill and hang. But because I can't walk into a meeting with LIDS with one and the other was happy selling to a small demo of the world. I wanted more. They couldn't see it. Now Im doing it and they salty. But was I supposed to stay where YOU want to stay? Or live my own life and conquer my own dreams

It's painfully obvious the ONLY reason dame lasted so long, was cause of jay

People wouldn't put up with him if he didn't have the #1 rapper on his hip.

People are grown ass men. Grown ass men and million to billionaires. You think they putting up with another man SCREAMING on them and talking down to them like some shyt?

Also, he said an e-mail, a video or you guys move in the same direction it a binding agreement and is as good as a contract. Cam had a look on his face, like "that's why we never talk business."

He said many times he lets lawyers handle business disagreements, because too much emotion is involved. Dame sounds like a dude that will make things difficult.

Look at the dudes that went at Dame for being slick.

1. Beans

2. Ol' Dirty b*stard's manager (He called Dame out, and Dame was on some he white he don't understand how black folks get down. But truly, ODB manager was right.)

3. Omillio Sparks

4. Currency

5. Jim Jones
