I’m gonna post some wings from a cafe here in town next time I grab some. Biggest wings I ever saw. Worth it every time. Can get 8 and fries for $10 but I believe it’s worth it.

has happened with other foods as well. ox tails, hangar/flank steak, pork belly...all these used to be considered poor mans cuts of meat but are now super expensive.
Ribeye too, my father is incredulous how ribeye is now an expensive cut of meat cuz he swears that's what they could afford when they lived in the projects in the 60's. Also spare ribs used to be poor/black people food, then we made them a thing and now it costs $3 a pound for something that's mostly bones.

I buy chicken by the case, and Wings are 4x more expensive than chicken leg quarters. I can anytime I want go to a packing house and get 40lbs of leg/thigh quarters for about $20. 40lbs of wings is running about $80. And half the weight of the wings is inedible, hell boneless skinless chicken breasts are cheaper than wings.

They are a hot commodity, if y'all would stop buying them the price would go down. Chicken wings are party food mostly anyway.

Looks like it depends on what we buy and where we buy. Wings are second cheapest to bone in with skin thighs at my market both about $2.50 a pound, boneless skinless chicken breast is top cost at 5$ a pound. It's the good stuff tho not that injected with filler stuff

Y'all getting hustled.

Cop chicken wings at the grocery store, pat them dry with a paper towel, deep fry and then toss them in your favorite sauce.

Takes 20 minutes.

I just bought a whole box of 8 piece fried chicken from bojangles for $9.99. Now if I take my ass across the street to american deli and ordered 10 lil hot wings, I'd be paying the same price. How? What is it that make wings so expensive?
how much would it cost you to raise chickens, slaughter and butcher them, store/freeze them for distribution, season/cook/package them

could you do it for the low low price of $9.99? :ld:

The demand is just too high. The cost for wing won't go down unless the average consumer stops ordering them every they you go. I mean I went out to a local joint with my sons and their friends. They order between them like 100 wings, now multiply that times 25 million or so, a day?

In fact, you can get the "reject" wings even cheaper. Basically, the wings that are so pretty looking. They just throw them in a bag and sell them at a huge discount.

They're not pretty, but it's still good chicken...
