Can someone explain why black people should root for teams instead of players?

I root for teams because I rep where I'm from. I root for certain players to do good and I'll pretty much never take sides against the players in most situations if it's a labor dispute type of thing. I don't buy into the media crucifying players for conduct unless there's a conviction in court.

Because fairweather fandom is douchey as fukk. You get no real satisfaction when your "team" wins anything because you don't actually care about the team or struggled through any of the losses. When you just jump to the favorites it's like :yeshrug: we were supposed to win anyway.

I couldn't be any other type of sports fan other than the one who sticks by his team for that reason. When we do win, you feel like you really deserve it as a fan and it feels so much better. Picking someone different every other year brings no satisfaction and doesn't allow you to be really emotionally invested, and it's just way more fun that way.

who said anything about jumping to favorites?

pick a player and stick with that player

you didnt address any points that i made either

why should BLACK people be loyal to franchises that have shytted on them throughout history?

People in general root for whatever the "hot team" or player is at the moment in a lot of cases.

Over on SOHH and then here the popularity of the Heat has doubled or tripled in the last couple years.

Before that it was the LWO movement.

In football, everyone had Cowboys apparel during the 90's.

Yankees will go on the road and have more fans than the home team sometimes.

Everyone wants to attach themselves to whatever is popular. That's not a trait that's confined to sports.

I don't see an issue with rooting for a player. That's how I became a Celtics fan in the first place. Reggie was my favorite player and then coming out of Kansas Paul Pierce was another player that I followed.

There are a lot of people who call themselves Cowboys/Lakers fans or Lakers/Yankees fans. Soon you will see Yankees/Heat fans pop up.

NBA is the only sport where I have no loyalty to any franchise, mainly just hope my UNC nikkas do well. I pull for Charlotte but I really wouldn't give a fukk if they were contracted tomorrow.

But can you not have a favorite team AND still pull for players from different teams, as long as it doesn't come at the expense of your favorite team?

This picture says so much more than what's going on.

Houston, are you looking for an excuse that will make yourself seem somewhat more esteemed than bone$ or malc? There really isn't a way to do that by being a fairweather fan. Go ahead and be one. No one's stopping you. But if you're not gonna have a particular squad you rep, it's borderline feminine.
