Can someone explain why black people should root for teams instead of players?

but fans are the only ones that are forced to stick it out?

if it's about loyalty, let's demand that for owners, players and everyone else

it seems like we the fans (aka consumers, customers) are the ones that are expected to not have options

there's a connection between the team and the city they play in, and it's hard to just change what town you rep if that's where you're from unless you're some military brat that has no home. Therein lies the sentimental difference.

no problem with loyalty

but loyalty is a two-way street

loyalty needs to be reciprocated

fans are loyal and all they get in return is relocated teams, owners not improving their rosters, high ticket prices, threats to pack up and leave if the city and sometimes state don't pay for stadiums and arenas

what has the fan gotten in return for their loyalty?

Ticker tape parades, the pride of one's city, and bragging rights. That's the bare minimum, but that's what fans strive for, because we really don't get much more out of these championships.

Ex. when the Lakers won a title, houston911 didn't get anything out of it other than a "yaaaaayyyyyy TeamKobe" reaction, but that's the shyt he aims for I guess.

Consumers don't have options in America? :what:

You seem not to understand that the team represents the people of that city. That is why people go as hard as they do.

I never said that

they represent themselves

people go as hard as they do because it's tradition to be fanatical

You act like every franchise is doing that? You swear like there's a team leaving every single day.

You have the option to not purchase a ticket or watch the games on TV. Once you force the owner's hand by fukking with his revenue streams he has to make a decision.. sell the team, try to move it, or improve it.

in the past 3 years my homeboy has gone from a cleveland fan to a bulls fan to a thunder fan :rudy:

Sign him up. He will fit right in.

im definitely a person who roots for teams not players

with that said, i dont mind people rooting for black players and not teams because of historic treatment. however personally i think if u do that u cant be selective and stan one black player while shytting on the other. like i unserstand brothers rootin for all black qbs, but if u stan vick/cam and hate on mcnabb....what part of the game is that ?

rooting for players to do well cuz theyre the same race is at least understandable. picking a particular black player and and stanning him to death while shytting on another black player who also usually embodies athletic greatness....is stupid to me

When I watch sports I don't care about the business behind it (the white / prob racist owners) or the race behind it (rooting for any black player just cause) so I have no problem choosing teams > players the majority of the time.

These racist white owners would definitely prefer you support players over teams. Only a couple teams get to be popular. But if the owner of the Memphis Grizzlies can go 10-72 and still get nikkas to buy OJ Mayo jerseys thats a :win:. Free money and less work...

Yeah support players over teams...next thing you know Dan Gilbert is not calling himself the "owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers", he's calling himself the "owner of Kyrie Irving". :leon:

Real shyt. The c00nery that nikkas have defended as well as the grown man shyt that nikkas have shytted on in the name of blackness is just :snoop:. Never ceases to amaze me.

As far as the thread topic goes people should root for whoever/whatever they want. I only take issue when nikkas are fake or misguided with it.
