He got himself over. Nobody can 'put you on' to that. He was one of the guys who proved that "grabbing the brass ring" was a bunch of bullshyt because once he got himself over they still didn't do anything with him.
They will only push you if they want to push you and no amount of you getting over with the crowd will help you. Pro Wrestling is about more than the in ring stuff, they wasted that dude plain and simple. They completely mishandled the Miz and Mizdow breakup too.

I dunno - Playing Devil's Advocate here, but surely being "over" means being able to elicit a response from the crowd, which he does. A resoundingly negative one, but a response nonetheless.
It's Vince's job as the writer/booker to turn those reactions to positive ones. He seems incapable or unwilling right now though.

Playing the realist, I really don't think it's a good thing when your top "face" is getting heel reactions. Yeah, they're trying to soften this reaction by portraying him as a tweener, but it's not really helping. They automatically make everyone he's against a face.
The stubbornness of not seeing this makes WWE a troll to its ever dwindling fan base, again, when they have the deepest roster they've ever had. It's the opposite of how a business is supposed to be run, but more like an entitled child would. I'm just at the "good luck with that" point. Unlike many, I won't miss wrestling when it's gone. They suffocated the competition and produce this CNN-like crap for their loyal fans. "Some people say he's not over...and some say he's just controversial".
