I like both concepts because everyone is working towards a common goal but boundaries are set within the group and individuality is still acknowledged and appreciatedno harm, no foul

Individuality will always exist it's more about what freedom will you have to Express your individuality in your culture. Culture is what binds people together yet people will always have different temperaments, attitudes and experiences that lean them toward different interests and expressions of selfCan individuals come together for a greater cause without losing their individuality? Can people work towards the same goal without being the same?
Malcolm X and Dr. King for example. Both are civil rights leaders but their ideals and methods were different. Both of their styles kinda worked together in a good cop bad cop sorta way.
That's true. Thinking about it, each piece that makes a car is sized and shaped in a way that allow it to fit, build in, move with the others. Atoms connects to each other with their elementary particles to form a more complex structure. Colors work in harmony to create the whole picture. The assumes tacit acceptance by each of the component parts as to their purpose, and that every ball-bearing doesn't believe that they can one day be the steering wheel.
Great question, great thread.

Is it the same when it comes to people though?Citizens of a nation, individuals of a people rarely all agree on which direction their respective ensemble should take, or what should be their role in it.
The structure still stands though. If I had to give a hot take I'd say it might be thanks to two things:
1) a common culture
2) a system that permeates society and is agreed on de facto, even if the individuals don't necessarily agree on its terms (for example, capitalism, citizenship and laws of the nation-state, etc)
I think that they are more realistic and practical terms.I like both concepts because everyone is working towards a common goal but boundaries are set within the group and individuality is still acknowledged and appreciated
A nation-state will try their best to develop built-in safeguards for people rebelling against their assigned roles. It will seek to direct culture via media, allow religions to take root to encourage some kind of (spiritual) conformity, push various versions of capitalist thought, a host of patchwork opiates.
All of those vastly underestimate just how unruly humanity can be, even at the most unconscious level. Humanity will rebel simply because it can.
They got me working from home today and they asking me questions about teamwork and unity.I think that they are more realistic and practical terms.
Easy to repeat terms like "unity" or the slogans/pet phrases of internet celebs, but when people step back and think for themselves.....they realize that those are just slogans.
That's some village of the damned shyt^^^There isn't any real unity in this age but there is plenty of uniformity.
Look around, people copy whats hot and think its their style when in reality they're just drones who've adopted personas to fit in to what society (aka corporate interests made flesh) expects. People spit out trite phrases and go through the motions but none of their moves are natural as they are strangers to themselves.
Thats why you see things like:

Thats your unity except it comes from people attempting to express their "individuality" which just proves its conformity in disguise, not to mention how 99% of people have personalities/inner worlds that function very similar to others as they've been molded by the same system that slowly sanded off their quirks to create generic employees that can easily be trained and replaced.
Its a dirty game.

You are articulated the stuff I'm reading right now perfectly. It all sounds generic and like slogans.
