can we all admit that everyone in some way, shape or form has had a "ghostwriter" or ghostproducer"?

Like others have already said, having help is not ghostwriting. Every artist draws inspiration from somewhere, so getting a line thrown at you, or remembers something that one of your friends/family said and throwing it in there isn't ghostwriting; it's a part of the creative process. Hell, everyone's favorite rapper has said a line written by another rapper.

Honestly, I really don't have a problem with ghostwriting. It's embedded in the music game, and will always be so. I can't name those people that have their work predominantly penned by another as an all-time great. NOT in hip-hop. In hip-hop it's your pen. In fact, rappers don't get enough credit for being writers. But if you have a writer, just admit it and don't call yourself the greatest. You certainly aren't the greatest rapper or MC. You'd be a good entertainer or performer.

As for producing, there are levels. Music producer and hip-hop producer are different, because a hip-hop producer assumes the role of the entire music producing team. My problem with hip-hop producing is that some names started taking credit for tracks they barely touched or didn't at all. or assuming role of producer when all they did was the job of the engineer..while other engineers don't get the same credit.

Bouncing ideas around in a studio session and borrowing a line or 2 is not ghostwriting. Having someone pen your verse then record a reference track for u to practice with is what I have issue with. You can't call urself an emcee doing that shyt

i can already see a lot of nikkas not gon really get what i'm tryin' to say but it's all good

look man, dr. dre has been 1 of my favorite producers since the chronic came out

but when i found out he didn't do as much work as i thought he was did, i was thrown for a loop

but then the more i thought about it, it made sense in a way as far as his ghost producers goes

he's surrounded by a great team of producers who have all this talent and quite naturally he's runs out of ideas and themes like anybody else would so he works with others to get his ideas off the ground and vibes with them

now i do think everyone should be properly credited for ANY work they do so i'm not against that but i'm just sayin' it makes sense that he pulls different people in and works with them because every loses steam after a while and in order to keep yo shyt tight, you collaborate

besides, like i said. why should i really give a fukk about who wrote what or produced what?

I WANT THE MUSIC. the FINAL PRODUCT

it's nice to read the linear notes and all but shyt, the MUSIC is what i want

i don't know, i've just had a changed of heart on this shyt

truest shyt i ever read from u , stomach.

fukk a process, give me some good ass music to vibe out to.

and Nas had cormega and jay electronica write him full verses, so all you new yawkers can suck drakes dykk.

Of course Will Smith, Dre, Puff had writers.....They aren't true artists (lyricists) why it's unacceptable to have someone write/ghost your whole verse, flow, cadence, persona....Thats the Drake shyt.....Yeah, artists from across the board have had contributions, credited and uncredited, lines, concepts, hooks....Thats normal. You think Nas had some flunky write bars like 'I clapped at Satatn but thought i was dreaming/woke up masterbating in a bed with demons'....No, that's Nas the artist and all the sick and weird shyt that comes from HIS brain. You think he had a 5k/month retained employee write songs like 'Drunk By Myself', and 'Undying Love'? Thats the difference between a real artist and a hologram like Drake, who shifts through different styles, because the real one? who he really is? Is a suburban kid from Toronto, with a real limited creative imagination, and very singular life experiences before the fame.
