The whole "red bone" shyt... first off of all, the term originated from the south. I ain't ever heard it officially til I visited my fam in Miami when I was a kid.
So if my logic is right, the reason we keep hearing about "red bones" more then before is because ever since the south took over hip-hop, it's shown the world where all the c00ns come from.

I feel like Wayan is the Allen Iverson of rap he gets blammed for all the negative trends in his industry. It was popular before Wayne and colorism ain't even prevalent like how it was before. Wayne has become the scapegoat.

I think the OP is wrong, but i also think u guys are missing where he's coming from.
Colorism has been around in the hiphop culture for a min..., but i do notice a big difference in the luv of exoticals (kim k) types and the luv for regular dark to light brown skinned females by the younger men around me (lil wayne era)...
This is because of the growth of hip hop with the growth of the internet simultaneously , its just that simple.
Look at our "fine women" back in the day (im 36) and look at what constitutes a "bad bytch" now...
There is a big difference...and just like how jayz (being the biggest rapper at the time) influenced everything my gen luvd, from the liquor we drunk, the clothes we wore, to the women we thought were beautiful.
Lil wayne (who i always thought was a lyrical NY/philly knock off and a corny nikka in general) was the biggest influence on the generation that should be between 23-28ish now. You see the tightness of their clothes, the crazy drug use, the luv of "exotic" looking females...
Also, the blending of our culture with things that have normally been attributed to alternative, young white culture....
