Production wise yeah. Lyric wise? They left a lot to be desired.
If we are talking Memphis, Ball and G are head and shoulders above.

Paul and Juice got a lot of samples from this song by DJ Zirk

I think its safe to say that you will find a few examples. But to what degree though? I don't think you'll find anything on par with the overwhelmingly pervasive view from the 30+ club that hip hop today is garbage.

We do have that pervasive opinion on West Coast Gangsta Rap from the older East Coast heads...and that era of West Coast music is viewed by many as "Classic HipHop".

Yeah...but Outkast don't sound like Ball & G, sonically or content wise... nor did any other ATL rappers around the time of coming out hard...like i said, after COH Ball & G started to veer away from their base sound which you heard on COH, Listen to the lyrics and their features on DJ Sqeeky & DJ Zirk mixtapes from 91-93...ATL rappers didn't start biting the Memphis sound until 3-6 blew it up and Ball & G had long abandoned it.
I'll try to watch these when I'm off work. Are they saying that the music was trash, or did they have an issue with the content?
