Can we talk about how Oh No was the perfect marriage of mainstream and underground? :mindblown:

Mos and Monch spittin dope ass verses

Nate's classic hook made it extremely radio friendly

Beat was knockin on top of all that

We'll never see no shyt like this again :francis:

The adlibs and background vocals on Habitat hold a special place in my heart

Umi Says is a chapter in my Hip Hop bible

I was thinking of my favourite outros ever and May-December slipped my mind :ohhh: That vibe is outrageous.

Mos had the perfect blend of melody, harmony and great hooks to complement the flawless rapping on here... I've put this album on to chill, to dance, to think, to serenade...

Honestly man that might be THE best example of a joint that has the perfect appeal to both underground and mainstream heads and that time. And it sounded so natural and nothing forced about it.

Above The Clouds
5* Thread for a 5-mic album :wow:

I love this album front to back and it held a young nikka down when I was out of commission from heart surgery....

But this song right here always had me stuck.... I mean if this song comes on I can leave it on repeat and never finish the album :banderas:

The rhymes...
The message...
The beat...
The adlibs...
And most importantly that epic hook :ohlawd:

Not Japan
Favorite album of all time :wow::wow:

Did anybody else never take Talib serious after the beatings he took from Mos on Black Star? The clear gap in skills between them on that album just stood out to me. I never felt like that with Outkast.

Thing is kweli has a better work ethic . mos somewhere in nepal wirh jay electronica summoning chakras and energies while kweli stay in the booth

He was miles ahead of Kweli and I didn’t wanna admit it because Kweli held his own in their early colabs like Fortified Live. But I had to admit it to myself when this album dropped. It was even more clear when that Reflection Eternal album dropped

The crazy thing is Kweli has actually had a much more consistent career after all this
:dahell:

Damn, Reflection Eternal's Train of Thought is a god tier album to me. I rate it as highly as Black on Both Sides. Both are incredible.

"There's so much to life when you just
Stay black
Stay black
Stay black
Stay black
Stay black
Stay black
Stay black
Stay black
Stay black
Stay black!
My people
My people
My peep-uh-peep-uh-peep-people"

"I want black people to be free to be free to be free. For my people to be free to be free to be free...that's all that matters to me. That's all that matters to me"
