nah they can hold a new election and form a new government (dont put rebels in charge)

Assad's family wasnt even elected they took over and turned a democracy into a dictatorship

If Assad is back in power there will be constant conflicts. I mean if his air strike killed your family member would you live under his rule?

They need to form a new government with proper representation

Of course. He's not going to be able to be the President forever. In fact, Bashar wasn't even the one who was supposed to take over from his father in the first place... his brother was killed in the 90s. The family has had power for 50 years.

The Russians have been pushing for a political transition. Assad's term ends in 2021. This should be set in motion.

Bro im not justifying droning or bombing or any of that

I just despise Assad for shooting on his own people

Syria couldve just been another nation that was part of the Arab spring, but instead look what it became
When you determine with so much certainty that the people he has attacked are 'innocent civilians' and not 'hired mercenaries' then you're doing the bidding of our war hawk neocons. Fact.

I've seen this too many times before and I ain't about to look for guidance on how to think about it.

My eyes are on the 10 guys trying to break in, not the one guy indiscriminately shooting at his front door.

He's beating the proxies

Without the Russians and Iranians he was cooked. He kept his head above water long enough

The propaganda about Aleppo is something else. There was not 250k people in East Aleppo. The SAA is taking over empty hoods, finding chemical and portable weapons, and letting tens of thousands of civilians into the government held part

the west got Sadaam and Qadaffi and countless others...him simply doing this is amazing

Information war. Propaganda. The White Helmets being nominated for a Nobel Prize when they work only in rebel held territory and took the name of the legitimate Syrian Civil Defence which existed since 1953...

I'm surprised Assad is still standing too
